Pond Foam Background

Who has used great stuff pond foam to create back drops? Does it have to be sealed with epoxy? How has it held up?

I would seal it as an extra layer of protection against UV. I haven’t gotten mine wet yet. The big thing is to bond it to the glass well as that stuff will float. I have also read about things like urchins eating the foam.

It’s hard for me to get a picture that does it justice. Pictures make it look flat. The big ledge goes out about 1/2 the width of the tank. The tall rock covers my overflow. I decided not to do the whole back of the tank which most do. The ledge is probably about 1/2 the length of the tank and heavy but it still floats.

I have used it in high humidity reptile enclosures but never in saltwater. If you are using it underwater, I would defiantly seal it.

This will give you kinda an idea of what it looks like in the tank. I’m also going to add foreground rocks as well.
