porcupine pufferfish help!!!!!

Hello,

I bought this porcupine pufferfish a few months ago, and he is doing well. He eats like a pig, including dry shrimp, krill, and frozen shrimp. My blue tang picks on his fins at times but it never bothered him thus I never did anything about it. But 2 days ago he refused to eat and has been sitting on the sand bed the whole day. Prior to 2 days ago, he was very very active.

Water parameters are solid and the rest of the fish are doing great. I installed an egg crate to separate him from the other fish for now. I will attach a video of him please let me know if you can depict anything. Thank you!

Your porcupine is breathing a bit too fast and has darker than normal coloration. Unfortunately, those are very broad symptoms and don't point to any specific single disease.

Do you have a treatment tank available?

Your porcupine is breathing a bit too fast and has darker than normal coloration. Unfortunately, those are very broad symptoms and don't point to any specific single disease.

Do you have a treatment tank available?

I see. Well, I do have a few tanks empty that I can set up if I need to. I am wondering if he just got very stressed from my blue tang nipping on him. But I wouldn't understand why he would turn like this in 1 day.

Also as you see in the video he is not closing his mouth. Is it possible to be a lock-jaw situation? I do feed him frozen shrimp from Costco that has iodine thus he shouldn't have any jaw problems but is it a possibility?

A weird death it happened out of nowhere and so fast. All the other fish are fine.

I know that my LFS keeps all their marine fish in water that's treated with copper and prazipro. I had this puffer for 3 months, but is it possible for late-onset copper poisoning?

I fed him Tetra dry krill and Frozen shrimp Kirkland from Costco.

It wasn't "late onset copper poisoning" that's not a thing, despite what you might hear.

The open mouth issue was likely a side effect of the rapid breathing.

I'm just worried that this was the start of a velvet (Amyloodinium) infection. Watch the other fish closely for signs of rapid breathing and not eating.
