Grumble grumble…. Halfway thru modifying my canopy and actually mounting my lights and I have to go do chores, feed the horses, feed the cows, feed the pigs. Make sure chickens are good. I want to play with my tank.

Added a neon Dottyback and an orchid Dottyback 3 days ago. My local petco will no longer carry saltwater fish.

Paid $17 for the two of them. They have been there for months. This is the first time I have seen either since acclimating

Should have lights finally back installed here soon.

This just got a lot more complicated and expensive. Just went and pulled the eb832 off my mixing station so. I can mount on my canopy.

Will run to a separate circuit so I can run am the lights and the heaters.

Halides at 50% plus the LEDs bars puts me at over 800w. When heaters kick on the circuit is not happy. This way I can program everything separately

Ok tank is back up and running. Ended up ripping most my equipment out of the stand. Redoing a bunch of wiring,

Pulled the calrx out, cryptic fuge, 2 media reactors I had set up as chaeto reactors, couple unused heaters, misc pumps etc.

Went back to basics. Color is close to what I want. I should have gone all actinic when it came to the bars but I am happy. Need to get my wave makers back up still, and going to pull the internal closed loop out

I have a red flat worm infestation in this tank.

I have known about it for a little while but it has gotten bad. Picked up a little yellow corris wrasse for the LFS and also getting a 6 line from a buddy of mine. Hopefully theses help.

It sucks because I want to use some of this rock to seed my new tank but really don’t want to transfer these.


And the beehive is in full swing. Another queen and bees show up this weekend for the second hive.

regarding red planaria.

To get the new tank to speed the cycle I am now thinking about taking a 5G buckets with freshly mixed Saltwater and adding flatworm exit to it.

Then letting a couple pounds, maybe 10, of rock soak for 30 minutes and then slosh it around, do a rinse in another bucket of salt water and then transfer into the new tank to help cycle.

I am working to rid them in the 210 but that is going to be a slow process. Good news is, I get to ad more fish to do so. Researching has led me to believe a mandarin dragonet may be beneficial also toward flatworms

Springeri Damsels got rid of my Acoel or however it's spelled. I saw 2 on the glass, got 2 Springeri and never saw another one again after that. That was 3 tanks ago and the rock has been reused multiple times.

The chrysus should help as well. I know my leucoxanthus (very similar) is always picking at the rocks and looking for little pests to gobble up.

The 6 line with stay with the big guys, doubt I would ever be able to get it out without taking all the rock out anyways.

I have stayed away from 6 lines with these tanks so far because of their attitude in the past. doubt there will be issues in a 210 when most the other fish are 10x its size

Yep. Prices are getting out of hand again. I forgot about CUC. I am going to have to actually have one in the new tank. With Blimpy I cannot have a CUC. That is one reason I have so many tangs. I am looking forward to having invertebrates again.

I have a hard time leaving things alone and always on the look out for a deal / tank break down. That said I may have stumbled onto Blimpy's next tank. If it were to happen it would be my end all for large tanks.

I have come across a Glass 10' 300G. Its completely setup and running with some beautiful livestock. Still in early talks with the Gentleman, he wanted to part it out but I am looking at it as a whole package.
A problem with this is I only have one wall in the house with a large enough span to accommodate the 10ft tank. Getting my wife on board may be difficult but not impossible. The other possibility would be it going into my basement but that would be a lot less cool.

If I do acquire this tank the s1000 will be for sale. My wife would get back her Parlor to furnish and design as she likes.

Passed on the 300G, it wound up not being drilled, not a huge problem but also the tank is 15 years old. I would not feel comfortable setting up and not completely resealing, which would be an ideal time to drill for overflows but not looking for that big of a project.

Blimpy is doing fine. Loves food and attention. Picking up a 10lb bag of little neck clams for him Friday hopefully.

Tank is humming along, finally wiring up the 24v fans I am installing in the canopy to help with cooling.
Have a Red carpet anemone on order.

Redoing lighting again soon. I have 5 mounting holes in my canopy. Currently halides are in position 1,3 and 5. They were originally spaced for 5 noopsyche k7s and the positions are not ideal for the halides. 1 & 5 are to close to the edge of the tank. I am thinking about dropping 1 halide and mounting them in position 2 & 4 and buying 3 of the new k7 IV likes I just put on my 54G. At the same time I will raise the canopy approx 6" and maybe actually hang it from the ceiling.

Will also be removing the LED bars I bought. Not happy with the outcome.

I started running a small reactor with some biopellets for carbon dosing. hoping to bring nitrates and phos down. Starting very light as I have never used these before and want to slowly shift things if I can. Have a couple bags of these pellets on the shelf so I figured I might as well give them a try. If I don't see much improvement I will up the amount of pellets or start vinegar dosing.

Tested the tank tonight. Not good

The carbon bio pellets are not doing much, but I am starting very slow with only 1/4 of what they recommend.

Nitrates are down from 75 to 52 but phosphates are at an all time high of 1.26

Need to get back to making my ATS for this tank.


Got the fans ....fan installed. had both in and running and decided to adjust one. Finger slipped and broke 3 of the 8 blades. Drew a bit of blood and had to fish it out of the tank. So now I have one fan on the tank, another on order. going to design a mount for the fans that sits over the back wall and holds the fan tilted down at 30* toward the water. In the canopy blowing down will do some cooling but this will be more efficient.

Have had the fan installed and controlled via apex for a little over 36 hours. Very happy with the results so far.

House is kept at 78*

Tank stayed surprisingly steady. Over the last 36 the low was 78.0* and a high of 79.1*

3 days ago the tank hit 82.3* @ 7pm before the fans were installed. Halides are set to turn off at 81.5*

Hopefully this is just one more step to stability!!

Been having weird PH readings over the past month, been waiting to calibrate till I got the little tank online and calibrate both at once.

Probe wouldn't calibrate at first, took it out and cleaned the tip, had a bunch of growth on it. Calibrated nicely now. Thinking of picking up an extra here soon.

Ph is running low of 7.95 at night and 8.06 during the last 2 hours of the light cycle.
Pretty happy with the numbers and with the direction of the tank I don't see needing to chase anything.

Red planaria Flat worm infestation it getting really really bad!! I am going grab a 7" sock holder and a clean sock and set it up in my extension sump so i can try to syphon as much as possible out. Looking for another wrasse locally and may try a mandarin goby as i read that they will eat them too.
