Preserving sand

I took some sand out of my tank and I wanted to know the best way to store it. Bucket with lid and a little saltwater. Or no water. Or is it not savable.

Rinse it our well, let it sit out in the sun to dry, then throw it in a 5g bucket with lid for storage.
