We have a custom built tank that only has a front viewing pane and a lid (furniture style lid). We are wanting to put some corals in the tank but the current lights are only giving us about 50 par at 16”.

What led lights can we use that can be mounted about 2” above the water and are about 1-1.5 thick that would be powerful enough to get our par up for corals?

Tank is 96” wide by 30” deep and 15” wide. Above 5” of space between water and lid.

Orphek OR3 bars are 1.5" high
Orphek bars need to be mounted high. 2” is too low for them.

Can you cut holes on top of the canopy and set light modules on top?

This tank is my old tank from 2013. I mounted reefbrite led bars inside the canopy and big horticulture LED modules ontop. I used industrial strength velcro to hold the modules in place.

Thanks for the replies.

The tip is a lid, not a hood - so there is. I expanding the area, but it is ventilated well.

I will look at the blades, but I may run into a width issue. The tank is narrow (13” wide) with a portion in the middle partially obstructed at the top by the weir. It’s long and deep.

Blades all day. Can be tank mounted with little to no hot spots. Plenty powerful for all the corals you could ever want. 1 every 8” front to back will give enough PAR for SPS. At 13” wide, 2 would be plenty. They are like 3 or 3.5” wide and come in all sorts of lengths.

You can see them over my tank in my tank thread. Little video I posted a couple weeks ago shows them off a little more

Sorry 13” wide, 96” long, 30” deep. To be more specific. The sump and all is behind the display to make it a total of 24” wide so it is the size of a large entertainment center. With a tv above it. The lid folds up for maintenance.

I’ll check out those blades see what combo works.

I appreciate the help.
