I have a yellow belly dogface with a massive lump on his side. Started small and is growing daily. What do I do? Some stuff says it’s a trapped air bubble and I should massage it out. Thoughts?

This may very well be an internal infection and treatment is of utmost priority. I would recomment Kanaplex and Metro by Seachem, or Maracyn 2 in a seperate treatment tank and increase oxygen during treatment

What is safe but not as effective is ruby rally pro. If internal parasite I did not mention as it can be harsh on puffers is PraziPro.

Was the puffer recently taken out of the water, fed from the surface or did it inflate for some reason? Those are the ways they get trapped air in their stomachs. This bubble seems offside to me. Does the fish show any inclination to float with that side higher up? If not, then I don't think this is air, and is more likely fluid.
