Evening all,

I have recently purchased a purple firefish for my nano tank.

The fish comes from a copper treated tank from a supplier here in the UK who did the QT on my behalf.

Recently i have noticed that the fish has developed 2 large white lumps on its side and top, shown in the attached pictures.

The lumps are around 3mm long and 1-2mm wide which I think is a bit large for Ich.

This fish is eating well and has no obvious symptoms such as heavy breathing or rubbing on rock or sand.

I have 2 clowns in the tank which I have had for 18 months and various inverts, all of which have been in the tank for over 6 months.

Does anyone have any info on what these lumps could be?

These look like skin irritations but need whiter light to clearly identify

That is what I was hoping!

I will try to get some more white pictures when i feed them tomorrow and update.

Watch for secondary symptoms: rapid breathing, lowered appetite, spots growing larger, or new spots developing.

Well I'm not sure if its a good sign or a bad sign but after getting some pictures in white light the spots have completely disappeared in under 24 hrs.

Still no secondary symptoms and the fish continues to eat well.

Below are the pictures i managed to get during feeding in pure white light.

I cannot see the mark on either side of the fish anymore.

Curious - how 'recently' did you get the fish? This could be from a minor injury, or a bit of stress coloration, or the start of an illness. Did the fish ever receive Prazipro? In any case - glad it's better.

I have had the fish just under 3 weeks now. Other than copper i'm not sure what treatment it has received prior to arrival at mine.

It can be a bit skittish at times so originally I thought it may have caught itself on the rocks but it has disappeared extremely quickly. The original white lump was definitely raised on its side.

I guess the other question would be - do you know how long the fish was under copper? And at what level?

I'm not sure on the length only that the copper was at copper powers recommended levels, I believe the LFS had the fish for over a month and it was in copper that entire time.

But all is still well, thanks all for the help.
