Hey all so I’ve had some fish in qt for over a month now after a fluke outbreak. I have treated them with prazi 3-4 times I belive but a new purple tang addition which was never in dt is also in qt and I believe it developed ich or mucus cones. Hard to tell the difference I have gotten mixed reactions from what it is. The tank has been in hypo salinity for 2 weeks now going on 3 and thinking about added fish back in soon. Only a 10g tank and have been fallow for about 35 days now for flukes. Would he be safe to add even with some spots on him assuming their mucus cones? He doesn’t really eat much when I put food in always been that way could be from stress since he hasn’t had a proper tank yet. They’ve been in there over a month being treated and no huge symptoms of anything else. Here’s a fresh pic can kinda see spots on the back side of him. Assuming mucus cones but not entirely sure. Should I stay with hypo for 2 more weeks to make it 30 days? Or add within next few days once brought back to proper salinity?

If he's in that 10 Gallon Tank alone I would not be terribly concerned about stress yet. I have one in QT right now and these Tangs are beasts when feeding gobbling up anything in sight, so you probably still have a sick fish.

They are prone to both but the pic show reflection from the room blocking view to the fish. Close blinds, etc and try to post again

I will try to get a better pic tmr. I have some older pics that I will show. Spots are as prominent but some can still be seen at certain angles. He is in there with 2 clownfish and a wrasse so not a ton of space. Is a little concerning that he doesn’t really eat when I feed mainly just pecs at the bottom of tank. They’ve other fish have no viable symptoms and I cannot see any spots on them like the tang. He’s some pics from few weeks ago.

Not sure about the potential that the fish has possible parasitic spots by these pics. It is concerning it’s not eating well though.

Is the ammonia being well controlled in the tank?

I have 3 filters running on it including a sponge o2 filter. I don’t have an ammonia reader but dose Seachem prime every so often to make sure it’s on check. Just did a 50% water change which I have the past weeks. So will post more pics of him when I get a chance. It definitely looks better as far as spots goes than couple weeks ago almost looks like it’s just his pattern but not entirely sure. Don’t want to go fallow again as I have for past 30 days. Other fish eat perfectly fine. Could I try garlic? Not sure what is it. 1 clownfish and him still show some sort of jerk movements idk if that has something to do with it or stress. The clowns have officially paired off now so that could be normal? Idk.

Here’s some updated pics. Can’t really see any spots at all only the lighter colored dots which just appears to be apart of his pattern and doesn’t resemble salt grains like ich or mucus cones. Safe to say he’s clean? Continue with hypo for another week or add to dt soon?

Ammonia can be a silent killer unless you’re testing for it with a good test kit (not API).

I would ask around to see if any stores can test it for you - first step is to rule that out.

Garlic is a food additive and not a disease treatment, I wouldn’t rely on it to cure disease.

Not to cure disease to help it eat better. It’s lot that he isn’t eating bc if he wasn’t at all he wouldn’t have made it the month I’ve had him. It just when I put food in he doesn’t go after it like the others and just pecks at the bottom
