QT setup

I have a 5.5 gallon tank, heater, circulation pump, filter, and the medications I have are kanaplex and focus to bind the medicine to food. The filter is a whisper 10i and I was wondering if that would work for a qt tank. If so do I have to seed the filter before hand or will it make a huge difference if I don't? What other medications would I need for a qt if I'm trying to make sure they don't carry any diseases? I think I've heard cupramine is good. What about if I qt coral?

For sure seed the tank in advance. You don't want it to cycle with a fish in it! A coral quarantine tank can't have copper and many other medications.

So could I just stick the filter pad in my DT for a couple weeks to seed it? Or just another thought, what if I stuck chaeto in the qt? Wouldn't that help seed it? And so what do you use to treat coral with?

Yea I know. I don't plan on getting many more fish. Maybe a goby of some sort but that's about it. I think I might use it mostly as coral qt.

I dont seed any of my filters in my QT i just do a 50% water change every two weeks.. i have a 20g QT
