Got 4 helix installed into my canopy today! These things are absolutely amazing! I’ll see how these four supplement my 6 noops. Debating on adding 6 more bars and get rid of the noops. Getting super tired of playing with spectrum and schedule.

Here’s from last week before I installed the 4 bars. You notice immediately the V shadows. With the quanta bars at about 50% the V shadow is pretty much eliminated.

I would go with all Helix in a heartbeat. Just mix the RC and MB to get your visual/preference spectrum and grow coral. Just dim to create the perfect blend of your preferred spectrum.

Thinking of picking up two to add to my ATI Powermodule, just have no good mounting options. Someone needs to 3d print something sick for mounting them. My wife already hates the T5 hanging from the ceiling so I don't even want to hear her when I add two bars to it.😂

Also I was thinking about getting the reefcrest daylight because I hate overly blue tanks. I guess I will wait and see after I mount 2 of the Giesemann Tropic bulbs in my fixture.

Have you looked at what Cleven has available for mounts?

I got 2 RCDL and 2 MB bars. I played around some with various dimming combinations - even as far as 0% on both MB bars and the RCDL are still *fairly* blue. I ended up setting the RCDLs at about 75% and the MBs at about 50%. If you’re really wanting a more daylight look, he also has a “Tropic Sun” version. I bought mine before he released those but I wish I would have gotten a TS/MB combo. Still very very happy with everything though!

I assume you have seen the 3 (I think) different mounting options that come with the bars?

I have the 24" ati powermodule and added two bars using the brackets that come with the fixtures and material from local hardware store. I did drill into top of fixture.

Anyone test the MB lights with a PAR meter to see how much they are throwing out? I’m debating on either the OR4 or the quanta pro MB. Any help deciding, I have a mixed reef but a ton of acros and want to increase my PAR and coverage.

im getting just under 400 on my highest acropora. My par meter is a cheap amazon one so I imagine the apogee would read higher. In comparison, I was reading about 320 in the same spot with a 6 bulb t5 unit just a few weeks ago. So, I am getting higher par than an 6 bulb ATI sunpower, which has proven par numbers.

Anyone mounted to a Reef Breeders Meridian yet? It seems like it should be possible with the tracks and modularity of the RB and quanta bars, But I’m not that handy with t-nut mounting solutions yet!

Get a 4040 bar mount to the wall with some 2020 extrusions, that’s what I have and looks sweet.

Thanks for the info, if I read it correctly quanta has way more LEDs than the OR4 and more dual chips. So I can see how they would be throwing out more par. It seems like they incorporated a dimmer switch, is that true?
