I have a pair of ocellaris clowns, one female one male. The female is neurotic but has calmed down significantly since adding a buddy. She’ll still chase him and act like she’s going to bite him (never hurts him) and recently he’s been taking shelter under my gorgonian.

Unfortunately for the gorgonian, this is extremely aggravating. Came home to see it completely naked and detaching from the rock it is on. Is it still healthy? Will this harm it?

I would imagine if you reattach it upright with decent flow, it should be fine. If there is no flesh damage, it should be less annoyed and open again in a day or so. If there's some flesh missing, you may need to clip that piece off.

Question, did you attach the bony underskeleton to the rock, or the fleshy part is glued to the rock?

What I do and was taught by someone I bought my first gorg from, place the cut end in the sandbed for a couple days, the flesh will die off leaving a bony skeleton. Then glue that bony skeleton inside a small rock to keep it attached. I've fragged and gave away more gorg then I can count and have done this method every time, and everyone stays attached to their respective rocks.

If you only glue the flesh to the rock, when the flesh dies back, it will detach.

I was taught to cut away the flesh near the end to avoid decay in the tank. I haven't done it the way you have but if that works, go for it!

Huh, thanks! This piece was tied to a rock when I bought it, and it ended up attaching by itself.
