Question about chiller pump

I have a prime current usa 1/3hp chiller. I was wondering what pump i should use. Any ideas for a inexpensive pump. The guy i got it from gave me a maxi 1200 and said that is what he used. He said it worked good, but the pump seems small to me. What do you guys think? Thanx

did you look up what the manufacturer recommends? i have a 1/4 that i run off of a mag 7 if that helps. they usually need a certain gph

You're supposed to put low flow through a chiller. If anything, the MJ1200 is a little stronger than I'd use. The manual (link) might be a good reference. It says 360-720gph.

I always used my return pump to return chilled water to the display tank. Adding an additional pump for the chiller adds additional heat load defeating the purpose of the chiller and making it work that much harder. The idea is to eliminate heat not add to it.
