Question about h2o2 dip for ha

I did a 50/50 dip on my z&p the other night with great success. My question is can this process be done on LR that has HA? If so will it kill off all of the bacteria? I know it will take alot of h202 but that's ok. Also not worried about a small cycle, due to not going into the DT right away.

I think you will be fine especially since you are not putting it in the DT, even if some of the bacteria did die, it will re-grow before the DT. Just my .02, Troylee is the one to ask!

i have never used it for lr but i don't know why it wouldn't work.... i wouldn't go cooking 40lbs and sticking them in the display but a rock here or there wouldn't hurt....from what it sounds like your gonna do i don't see any problem with it..... the one thing is the rock is most likely bound with po4 and releasing it slowly there for if you are succsesfull right now it will most likely come back in the near future...

Personally, I would just dip it in freshwater and maybe follow up with a short dip of 50/50 freshwater and vinegar. That would kill any saltwater algae (leave it in the freshwater dip till the algae dissolves and disappears), and then a short dip in the water and vinegar should eliminate the outer layer of the rock, hence getting rid of the PO4 accumulation. Keep the vinegar dip very short however, as vinegar will actively dissolve the LR. Also rinse it well in freshwater (let it soak for a day or so) after the vinegar bath, as I've heard that vinegar will promote hair algae growth.
