because it is a super well known and trusted power supply? that is beyond dumb
From what limited experinces I've had with power supplies, Meanwell is the trusted one to have.

I mean, if it is a current user in this forum and that person happens to read this thread, they're the idiot just to put it out there.
No refund.
I'm hoping they see this and can maybe say something in his defense. But I will not name him. Just cuz.

The pump was bought from Aquarium Specialty.
I have receipts.
You are a genuine long term member of this site and you have receipt.

I have no doubt you posted it in good faith and it is the real macoy.

No refund be because I doubt he would be able to prove his claim simply because I would not rule a "Made in China" somewhere on the item which probably will be correct. This alone does not denote the whole item was made in china but parts of it will most likely have been for certain.

The sale was for a made in Germany pump. The seller sold a genuine product with proof of purchase from reputable retailer. The power supply is the accessory which was not the subject of the sale, let alone common sense in anybody suggests this is common industry standard for any power supply to be made in China. The product is authentic. The buyer loses this case all day long without any doubt.

No refund.

A) If 'not made in China' was a priority for the seller, they should've/would've asked about it beforehand. But they obviously didn't.

That alone is reason enough to say the sale is final.

To me, it sounds like what, @lapin said, for some reason they changed their mind and are look for an excuse to get out of the purchase.

B) You've confirmed with the U.S. distributor of Royal Exclusive that where it was made ... and you originally purchased it from a reputable retailer and still have the receipt to prove it.

That also reason enough, unto itself, to say the sale is final.

C) AFIK, U.S. Customs Country of Origin requirements require that imported items need to be marked with EITHER the english name of the country of origin or the phrase "Made In [Country Name]".

So, by displaying the Company name and its address in Germany on the product, the requirement is met ... meaning the they didn't need to apply the specific words "Made In Germany".

In fact, the exceeded the requirement because they not only put the country name on it, but also the exact address where purchasers can contact them.

Trying to insinuate that you sold them a Chinese knockoff pump is ridiculous. You have the purchase receipts. Meanwell is what you want to see as the manufacturer of the power supply, thats quality. No refunds.

I guess in his defense this picture here shows the tag on a RD3 100 watt pump I have and it does say Made in Germany on it.

I actually feel terrible for him. He spent a lot of money and thinks he was burned.
I was very up front with him and even offered a smaller cheaper pump ( another very quiet dc pump with a USA base) but he wanted this one.

I'm sure there are parts of it that are made in China as are most items. Probably for or in the Electronics. An expensive piece like that probably has a s/n. Tell him to call the MFG and verify that they made it. He probably has buyers remorse. And what is his proof that it's a knockoff? Because he said so?
This is the conversation I had with Scott Leif of Royal Exclusiv on Facebook.

Me: Someone on R2R just said he thought the new RD5 pumps might be made in China. Is that true?

Scott

Not true.

You sent

Me: Still Germany ?

Scott

Yep. Controllers are assembled in Germany. Motor blocks are potted in Germany as well. I think they have the injection molding for the motor blocks done overseas. We CNC cut our own pump heads and rotors at the factory. The rare earth magnets are sourced by a company out of Germany as well..

Scott

The power supplies are sourced from overseas. I believe they are produced in Taiwan

Because you "Mean Well?" 😂

Why would the address from Germany be on the motor component if it was made in China? Not even the Chinese are going to risk getting into this kind of argument if they were knocking these off.

Unless you advertised that the pump didn't have a Chinese made powersupply?

No, sorry about their feelings but somethings are out of our controllership.

That butt wipe filed a claim with paypal
Yes, yes, they always do. Refer to my last post. You can and should file the dispute whenever PayPal allows you to do so through their site. Give them everything. It just means your $ is hung up for a while. In the end, the buyer should lose this case.

Actually, if you wanted me to point it out, you even sold the pump with additional pictures as requested by someone. Those second set of photos you included in the sale thread actually show the cable and its Chinese manufacturing company label is clearly demonstrated on the cable in the photo. This is still separate from the German made pump.
Good luck, give PP everything you have and just plan to spend some weeks in limbo as it takes time to formally resolve.

And try to remain civil. Remember the buyer isn't as useful as this ^. Don't give them that much credit or let them ruin your frame of mind. There is nothing they can win as they have demonstrated that they are beneath all that.
