Questions regarding fish load.

Currently i have a Mandarin, an ocellaris, a solor fairy, and a flame hawk. I've been playing around with the idea of adding a female solor fairy, but I've also wanted to get a black clown for my ocel. I've also been thinking about getting a dragon face pipefish. As far as tank stats it's a 54 gallon, 60 gallon total system. Probably 80 pounds of rock, a fuge with mud, rubble, and chaeto; and a coralife super skimmer 220 with a sedra 3500 running it. Now i would like to add all 3 if the fish i mentioned, but i feel like that wouldn't be the best idea. One thing though, I'm fairly certain that i can keep the pipefish and my Mandarin. I have a very mature tank and fuge. I'm also going to pick up some ulva and a couple packs of pods from reef cleaners and buy pods as needed. So that is off no concern. I just want to figure out which fish i should get/support/which would be the coolest combo. I've hada clown paid before but never a wrasse pair, so that would be interesting to see them interact. Dragonface Pipefish are very difficult to keep and need to be kept in either a species specific tank or with very peaceful tankmates.

I would not recommend adding the female C. solorensis. Most of the time pairings end up as 2 males and in your size tank, 2 males will more than likely fight.

I've never mixed clowns... maybe one of the clown experts can shed some light.

The female solor is a totally different color variant than the male solor. I just found that out recently.

Yes, Fairy wrasses are sexually dichromatic, meaning there are noticeable color differences between males and females. Fairies are also protogynous hermaphrodites and begin as females. Most of our male/female pairings have ended up with females morphing into males. In our situation, we've been able to make that work as we have a large tank, feed 3x a day and our fish have lots of hiding places where they can chill out. Hope this helps... :smile:

So they won't do like clowns where they will buddy up and swim around together then? I couldn't find anything on the internet about it. I've had the ruby heads before but not with any other wrasses.
