Never bought a tank this large before and not really sure on where to get it. Looking to purchase a 180 maybe a tad larger. Where do y’all recommend on getting one and what brand?

Planet Aquariums, Innovative Marine and Red Sea are all wonderful tank brands, I myself am getting a Planet 125g in the next few days. Most well-stocked reef stores have at least two of the three brands, and almost every reef store can order specific tanks for you.
Good luck in you're search!

I just put an order in for innovative marine last week for a 72’’ tank (check 200 EXT or 200 INT) They have 15% off going on right now. But there are so many choices - custom or mass produced. Really depends on what you want. With all these choices, it’s hard to make a final decision!

I don’t think I need custom and I kind of want to stay away from Red Sea and waterbox I want to build it myself. I have a lot of the equipment already for the tank. I just don’t know where to start lol

Yup I had the same thought about RS and WB. Check the innovative marine line. Stands are nice. They are relatively new to market - there are plenty of build threads now on R2R. With discount, they come out to be cheaper. They don’t include a sump - so you are free to do some level of customization. customer service (I can only vouch for pre-sales for now) has been really good.

I just had a custom tank built from custom aquariums. 72”x24”x28” tall. Customer service was great and they’ll build whatever you want. Price was decent also. Not sure if your going for framed or frameless, but they can do either. If you do a framed tank, they build the trim out of anodized aluminum and not plastic. You can also select glass thickness and clarity on all panels. You can also do tempering on panels also. I was super impressed with their shipping also. If you use their stand, which I am not, they have a lifetime warranty. They can also drill whatever holes you want. I didn’t trust them to do this. Not so far as the drilling part, but getting the location correct. They have a glass drilling machine that drills from both sides. Wish I had one. Lol.. This is how they ship. They definitely put some time and labor into this shipping container.

Custom Aquariums did my 180 and it’s a superb piece of work. Price was reasonable but quality is very good. If you are thinking you might go a little bigger do it now. For just a little more money you can go bigger. I regret that I did not do just that. Now I am looking at having a 8 or 10 ft. tank built. Hind sight you know......

Thanks guys! The biggest tank I’ve had is a 4’ i was thinking a 280 as well but I think a 180 would best suit my needs. We are moving here shortly and of course will start a build thread once I get things going!

PLEASE make a build thread! I really want to see one of these. Congrats!

My 2-cents: Aqueon 180 Mega Flow if you want an off the shelf, decent ‘budget’ tank. But Custom Aquariums or Innovative Marine if you want it a bit more customization. Best wishes.
Yeah the off the shelf tanks are cheaper but I really really hate those over flows...they totally screw up your aquascape let alone take up valuable real estate
I think next tank I’ll go ahead and fork out a few more bucks
