I bought some zoas from my LFS four days ago and one of them had these little red dots on them that I noticed after dipping them. I dipped for 30 minutes and blew water on them every 5 minutes using a pipette to try to knock off anything but these were left, I figured it would be okay since I dipped but now I see a little patch of these red dots growing. The zoas look mildly annoyed but they are spreading onto the rock so I’m worried what they could be and how to stop the spread! They aren’t moving as far as I can tell so I don’t think they could be redbugs (plus it’s not an acro), and they are individual dots so I don’t think it’s a sponge? Thanks in advance for any help!

If it’s spreading rapidly, I wouldn’t risk it. Maybe use a siphon while scrubbing it off the rock? Or remove the rock and try scraping them off. Wish I could help more

I don’t see any red dots in the zoa frag photo. Can you get another one with more white light? The red patches on the rocks look like coraline algae but hard to see. Sounds like they could even be red forams, usually pop up in the shadows around or on base of corals.

Try removing the “Individual dots” with tweezers if you can.
