yes. cyano. normal.
Is it a new tank? do you have a refugium?

real reef rock has a little bit of food plus bacteria "seeds" so its normal.

tank has been running for a aboujt 2 1/2 months now, and its a biocube 29 with phosgard, chemi blue, and a tunze 9001 skimmer just added the skimmer 2 days ago
yea itll pass. Imo, there is very little reason to run Phosguard now. You are in the ugly phase. Itll get better on its own.

helps to cycle but also make a little ugly.

Patience my friend! Itll pass. Siphon it off the rocks at wc time. Keep the back chambers clean(I did my WC right from there) youll be all good!

And welcome to reef to reef! Where are you? Can we see a pic of the new tank?

Yea stirring up the sandbed will knock extra nutrients into the water, prob what made the cyano bloom. Lucky its so new it would have put a lot more in the water.

Excellent. That's a sweet tank!
Lots a room to grow and add corals!

What are your parameters like for No and Po.
If you don't have or don't have room for one I always recommend a refugium.
If that's not possible very slow addition of chemical nitrate and phosphate reducers like GFO for PO.

Po and no are the two thins you really want to see for nutrients and causes of cyano.

My friend. Your tank looks great. Its young. Itll pass.
double chec Am. but I think your good. All by its self the 10000000000 Good Bacteria are working to clean that tank up for you. As they grow stronger they WILL balance the tank. dont over feed dont under feed. get that skimmer tuned (its a pain I have one) but. That lil baby tank is gonna blossom on its own.
I wont recommend bottles of stuff to put in it. sorry. The good guys will defeat the the Bad red guys. If you take a 1/4 tube and siphon out one gallon of red stuff every week itll help.
But the biggest thing is Patience.
Keep an eye on the No and Po but dont worry. you will see rise and fall of both. this is the tank balancing its self. MOst folks see an end to the fluctuations once the Ugly phase passes. Not a coincidence.

Cyano BTW is the oldest organism on earth. Our ancestor. We are looking for it or signs of it on comets and mars. Higher life forms once they appear generally out compete the cyano for food. In a tank those life form include Good bacteria and corals.;)
