Red Sea price increases today

Reefmats don't rely on optics at all. They rely on conductive probes which is why the unit does not function in freshwater aquariums at all.

I'm sure there are variances in peoples experiences based on use case but your statement doesn't match mine at all for filter rollers.

The reefmat easily out performs the clarisea in ease of use and maintenance.
(It formerly had a price advantage but I would pay the current $5 premium to use it over a clarisea)

I can't fairly compare it to the aqua ready af-1 line since I have no first hand experience with that unit but it looks like a bubble magus. If it is infact the same (or very similar) then I can say that the reefmat design is worth the premium price either way simply because it's a huge pain to change the roll in comparison to a reefmat.

For what it's worth, the reefmat is one of the few things I'll praise that company for product wise.

There dual level sensors are not switches there optics just like there ATO sensor

They are not optics on either product they’re titanium electrodes no optics on any of their products

What part of disassembly was the issue? Removing the cap, to get inside? If so, I've found that a small needle nose pliers gets it out easy...

I just hated all of it, the cap, all the little parts to get the propellers out.

Red sea ones is like 2 seconds, done. So easy that if I just want to clean the propellers, I don't even need to take it out of the tank.

I believe savvy users just buy fleece rolls from a 3rd party, they make 3d printed adaptors so you can fit cheaper fleece. No need to use red seas.

Does this easy change involve the use of a stapler? If so I wouldn't call that as easy as changing a reefmat which takes me 10 minutes including cleaning parts (takes probably 3-5 mins max otherwise)

I assume by uses "too many material" you mean it uses too much filter floss?
The oem rolls last much longer on all tanks I use them on compared to a clarisea or bubble magus.
Additionally with the use of precon rolls cut to size, I get similar performance for a mere $12 a roll after shipping.

There's no such thing as light handed feeding in this house.

The particular tank with 2 has 4 drains in a single central overflow. 2 1-inch mains feed into each one (one is dialed down and the other is fully open)
The secondary and emergency are 2" respectively

Last I heard they were dropping them. I avoid the news as much as I can lol

If you lived closer I would rip that tank apart and put it together proper. Seems a waste.
But that's what I do for a living. Pull 70 year oid stuff apart and put it together proper...

I use Maxspect 330's in my tanks and I never have had a problem cleaning or taking them apart. I do it about every 6-8 months.
As far as Red Sea products I do like RS300 skimmer (with the Sicce PSK DC conversion). Their ATO, although I think I am lucky because others do have issues. I use their 250 roller fleece in my Aquamaxx AF-170 filter rollers, it is a perfect fit and it is 200µ which I like. Also their screen tops.

Correct. Maxspect invented and patented the gyre pump. Reputable companies license the tech from them

There's going to be way more, and then even when (if) tariff issues are resolved then the greedy retailers will continue with the higher prices for quite some time.

Red Sea and a number of the other big brands all use MAP pricing on their products, which means the retailers have 0 control over what they are priced at. They must sell the products at the exact price set by the manufacturer. Any and all sales that occur are also controlled by the manufacturer as well.

Ya, prices never seem to come down once they go up no matter the reason.

I happened to notice the price increase because I was shopping for a gyre today.

You may be ok - sometimes prices go up - just before they go down before a sale. (like a Memorial Day sale :)). - Note I'm not implying I have any inside information - just a common observation
