All I can say is don't get another red sea future failure tank.
Waterbox and cade are similar and I haven't heard of one failure. Can't say much about others. Got a cade 1800 myself and I am happy. 2 years old.

I personally have a 30+ year old Oceanic Aquarium. Planet Aquarium is a Master Designer and a Master Builder formerly of Oceanic. They seem to have a good rep. so does @Joe Glass Cages . And Joe is on the boards here. I'd be comfortable myself buying from either of those 2 places. IM has a good reputation also. But I would do some research into what ever brand I decide to buy.

And we wouldn't know that from being warned by people who place ads to sell us red sea tanks- we have to learn it from peers who report honest patterns to each other without the greed of money causing us to withhold truth from friends

The warnings you saw were all web threads from us common joes... there wasn't a blog article about the risk, nor a sticky thread at the top of any web forum, it was peers who protect each other.

Reefbuilders wants you to know you can win! In four years who's going to help these red sea tank winners?

Get some of these and clamp them to your tank to buy some time. Get a new tank asap

I guess my other question... Can I just apply a tiny dab of silicone above the water line? That appears to be where water entered... Might have happened when I was filing up the tank with water. Would that be suffice to hold me over for the next month or so while I shop around for a new tank?

That is a question no one here can give an accurate answer on. To many variables including how close to your house heavy traffic is causing vibrations in your foundation etc.

Poke and Hope. I'd put some type reinforcement around the tank, duct tape works in a pinch to add some support just go completely around the tank with it a time or 3. Drain the water a few inches below the separation, and pray.

Hope it holds till you get the replacement.

The truth is, even without the pic my recommend is the same, due to year of production range. Even if the seams were perfect that’s in the known break lot per tanks from that one break thread. Be sure and search the other break threads for 2020 editions but I think you’ll see this same pattern

Want to engineer a skip cycle transfer out into a holding bin? I know how much work and cost that is, especially without a break currently in place, but I’m telling you these are built wrong in some way and your floors are not safe.

The tank can fail at any time, preemptive move is your only safe option.

What about the older red sea tanks built from the early 2010 - 2013 era.... Were those tanks built better and more robust compared to the red sea tanks from the 2020 era?

I don't have any data on those breaking agreed, but why reward them at all, to any degree, for this mass madness wetness on the floor with some type of secret roundtable kingsmen-of-reefing between blogs and consolidated forums deciding to never speak of this in public, as a vastly needed preemptive warning, to all owners of this production lot?

Has the world gone mad or is it just me is what I'm asking :)

So even if you did that it'd probably hold water
But for the thread and my soap box of limited digital lifespan, you'd update it as some other brand chosen and when it's all full of life nobody is going to try and verify true branding we'll be celebrating the skip cycle as deflection

:)

I can't advocate rewarding the origination of the pain of so many friends telling me they're leaving reefing over this

That's why I publicly bust the businesses who will not stop selling red sea tanks to us as constant ads to win, with no warning, ever, should that product falter and they know it.

The busting is *not* over the apparently challenged production lot. Any business can have an accident

You simply do a good faith run, from the registration emails of all lot owners from the problem range you reach out, ship them new tanks etc

But if you instantly delete any reasonable request, beg, for help on fb pages and you engage in retreat with full pockets? We must lambaste that for a while, the entire cog wheel.

It's over the bad treatment of customers just outside the warranty window, search the threads to see

To ignore that group which is growing daily any further: nope. Until rs rewards my friends with great customer service I won't agree to reef with those guys.

Is there a list of safe and reliable reef tanks to refer to? BTW what are your or the communities thoughts on the reefer g2+? Are those any more safe and reliable than the g1s...or are those failing people as well with the seam issues?
