They don’t offer refunds.

In warranty they will replace the tank. Out of warranty they are offering some people a credit toward buying a equal size tank or larger. Any form of money back does not seem to be on the table. And the credit as mentioned, has stipulations.

So, if you spent $3000 on a tank and it leaks after warranty, some people are offered a $600 credit. But they can’t use that credit towards a $1500 tank or towards lights or gear. They have to use it towards a tank and spend ANOTHER $3000 or more to get the credit

@SaltwaterAq stop pushing this brand via Jimmy’s build to unsuspecting reefers. Think about what you guys are doing. I really like you guys but someone (distributor) has to sack up to this company. Don’t allow unsuspecting reefers to merely be sheep headed for the slaughter. - Chris@thedryreef

Low iron glass scratches easier than normal glass whether its starfire or optiwhite.

Tank prices are crazy anymore. $3000 for a sub 100g tank is insane. I have looked at Glasscages and while all tank prices are outrageous anymore these seem better priced than some. I get a lot of the time these are kits and some of the tanks are very high end. In '15 I got a marineland 180g rr and a harwood stand and canopy for $3000, the stand and canopy were 3/4 of the price. Marineland tanks are not high end. That combo today is over $5000. I would not be spending anywhere near that on a redsea tank after seeing this type of thread so many times.

Sorry this has happened hopefully you did not incur too many expensive repairs to fix the spillage. Also hope you were able to save the inhabitants.

Looks like the tank still is reasonable. People wanting tanks should find an aqueon dealer and get something like this and add their own sump and gear and have flexibility to get the lights and sump they want

Yup Marineland and Aqueon Deepblue tanks are much more reasonable still but they are not highend tanks. Will they hold water with little to no issues? yes probably way more reliably than the redsea tanks.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I really like the Ultum Nature System tanks. They look beautiful, at least from what I can see in the videos and photos. I'd love to get one of those someday, but import prices make it impossible right now. They are very nice tanks, though. You can check them out.

Sorry to hear this as I have a rs170.
I have 3 other systems all IM and for the money they are quality systems, imo.
I am getting another IM ext120 for a frag system.
I have ran aqueon tanks in the past and saw one at the lfs and they look great. The black silicon is not just slopped on like before and the top and bottom rim is way nicer than the old Version.
If you go Aqueon get it at petco.

Can anyone recommend a decent reliable tank?

Sorry to hear, I agree there's no point.... I'm sure you've already gotten plenty of recommendations, I'll just say I went with waterbox.... But virtually any other tank brand that is mentioned here has a far better track record than RS :(

@Joe Glass Cages makes tanks, he has a good reputation as a solid builder, and I have never heard any complaints about Joe's customer service. Someday I gotta meet the guy!
Planet Aquarium is Formerly Oceanic. I have a 30+ yr old Oceanic Tank, I swear by them.
CADE has a solid rep for quality tanks.

I currently have a Waterbox tank and like both the tank build quality and the cabinet. I don’t think the cabinets are as good as Cade aquarium cabinets though.

My only gripe with the Waterbox is that I have gotten scratches in the glass so appear to have been made very easily. I just don’t know how I got some of them and even started to wonder if a snails shell could have caused them.

I have waterbox 180 gallon , and I get a few scratches. I don’t even use a magnet cleaner anymore. No matter how careful you are, scratches will happen eventually, not just for waterbox, everybody gets them at some point.

I had this tank built for me by Advanced Acrylics with their show polish on everything and it's been awesome.
No silicone seams to break, 3/4" thick acrylic is super strong and rimless. You'll never dump your reef on "de floor" again. I could shoot this tank and it would be fine.

With all the great other suppliers available and recommended, can’t see how they are going to stay in the business, if you can’t hold water.

Should go north of 20 years easy for a well constructed display.

Even bottom stuff is more reliable.
