Missed opportunity @Reef Breeders ....

Honestly the biggest gripe I have with the edge bars is there is only 2 channels. So you have royal blue as channel 1 and all the rest on channel 2..

Yea, the moonlight is way too bright. I asked ReefBreeders about it and
" they're aware of the problem and working on it" was the answer.

Agreed; I had one I wasnt using and hung in behind my Meridian for moonlight and early morning ramp.

Just did some quick readings.. I have my lights cranked up to 90% now after talking to Adam so I was curious.. my cheap par meter is reading 600 on the rocks and 300 in the sand 24” down.. lights are hung 12” above the water surface.. using telegrams calculator for this meter times my reading by 1.17 I’m hitting 702 on my acros and 402 in the sand currently. I know these meters don’t pick up all the uv either so you’re guess is good as mine how much it really is lol..

Very simple fix for moonlight - solving both color tone + brightness

The cool blue used for moonlight by default is .1 %. There are a lot of cool blue leds and it is a brighter shade of blue.

Instead of moonlight mode being enabled, make a 24 hour schedule and program the “moonlight time” to use the indigo channel, or the indigo + violet channel to run at 1%. Either of these should appear dimmer than cool blue at .1%.

When the room is dark, go in manual mode, turn all the channels off. Then turn on these channels one at a time, to 1% and see which you like better. Then program your schedule to run that during overnight hours

Ok so 48” tank, recommended fixture is Meridian 35 which has 3 panels evenly spaced. I’m using 2x Meridian 11, evenly spaced, but the spacing is wider than on the Meridian 35 so I have less overlap. And also one less led panel than the 35.

Mounting height 9-10” also reducing overlap. Encompass lenses, compensating by increasing spread/overlap, but reducing par slightly

Also have 2x 14k edge bar 48

Measurements at 95% on the Meridian followed by 95% on Meridian + the bars

I don’t run these settings of course. Just showing an example of par capabilities of the smallest model Meridian and how strong the bars are.

Anyone know of a setting that will show the natural colors of clams under these lights? I'm having zero luck getting the green on my crocea to show up. I've tried every combo I can think of and even each channel individually and the only way I can see the green on the mantle is to shine a flashlight on the clam and it looks beautiful.

PS I'm wondering if maybe this light isn't the right choice for a tank with clams as the centerpiece?

Ya I tried that and even just those two together with no others as well as each individual color and still none of the green is visible. I have a hunch I may have to switch to T5s or try one of my photons or gen4 XR15s that have red and green. I'm guessing lights designed for coral aren't really the best for clams. I know they'll grow clams just fine but I would prefer to see the natural color in this tank since the plan is clams as the focal point.

Well duh. If I shut off all flow the colors are great. I was using a top down viewer but not shutting off flow. My guess is all the ripples just mix the colors so it's just a continuous change.

No filter just WB tweak.

I have been surprised by how much of the whites I can, and need to use on these lights throughout my whole cycle. These 3.5k and 5.5k LEDs are different, in a good way. I also underestimated the cool blues as well. Once I increased them, my reds and oranges popped..

I found the sweet spot for my meridian 24 over my 36 in 30 gallon at 12.75 inches above water line. Which just happened to be the highest I could raise my fixture up on my wall mount . I was running my prime/T5 hybrid at 11 inches. Not only did I reduce the hotspot in the middle slightly, I increased the spread and par on my edges significantly. My T5 bulb are even blending better at 12.75 inches.
13 inch recommended height by @Reef Breeders. Solid.

I agree. I always avoided the white channels on prior fixtures. These whites are different. I enjoy them. And they really enhance the overall look.

Just got the meridian 24, and set the light schedule. If I set the moonlights to auto are they supposed to come on automatically or how do I set a schedule that moonlights kick on when daylight schedules kick off? Thank you guys

You set up your sunrise and sunset. That’s when the lighting period begins and ends. And moonlights come on when it’s outside that period

Yes if the moonlight function is switched on for this schedule; that should be what to expect
