Using most bulbs you will be able to tell the difference with wattage (ballast related) and specially with the position of the nipples.
Tullio is so nice!!!! I'm glad you talked to him.

Hello Everyone
I am using the reefbright halides x2 250w, due to changing bulbs, I quite like the 20k look ( got 10k/20 twinarc), don't know whether to get different bulbs, here in UK suppliers twin arcs are limited, I can get the following alternative marine lux 20k, marine lux full spectrum 12k, radium 20k, blv 20k, coralvue 20k or 10k or reeflux 10k / 20k.
Any help would be appreciated
Gordon

Is anyone running these with 4 xho strips for one pendant?
I’m going to install next week a 36” reefbrite halide with 4 xho leds from reefbrite over my 72” tank. I’m starting with just one fixture for now but seeing if anyone has done this.

I'm using Quanta Pro meso blues with my pendants, which I find so much better than xho's and Orphek's combined.

Can you compare the Quanta bars to the orpheks and reef brites? What do you like better?
I actually compared them directly with each other at the same time. The RB's had a slightly different pop to them compared to the Orpheks, it wasn't bad, just different. Both Orphek and RB's were pleasing, especially when combined. RB's have a good spread, but were very weak in par, while the Orpheks had a nice punch to them, but lacked spectrum blending and spread. When mounted high, the Orpheks were a little better. The Quanta Pro's have great spread/blending and were more powerful in par. I wouldn't say the pop was better, but just as good as the RB's and Orpheks combined. Overall, the Quantas just performed better in all categories for me. There's actually some shimmer lines from the Quantas, which I like. I could easily light a tank with Quanta bars alone, probably a combo of meso blues, tropic sun and maybe one og pop in the middle? I'm about to move everything back to my 90g, as I'm rebooting that tank, so I can post a few pics with everything running (3 meso blues & 2 14k pendants).
My temp tank is a Cadlights 125 and I initially had the 36" double fixture w/xho's and 3 24" OR2 blue plus bars over it. I simply removed the xho's and Orpheks and got better results from just two 3' meso blue bars. Let me see if I have some pics I can post.

Here’s just two bars over the 125. The bars are about 12”-14” away from the water and the tank is only half full.

This is just with the bars on, same position of the sensor in air.

When I first got the Quantas, I just hung them quickly and turned on the halides and took a quick measurement. The sensor is probably 26”-27” away from the lights, granted it’s in air and the outside bars are pointed straight down.

Temp tank with 36” RB halides 14k and two meso blue bars.

I love my reefbrites. Just got the 36” and went with 4 LED xho strips.
I get 800-900 par at the top and 300 on the sandbed. And this is on a 72” tank .

I’m running a totally different bulb than what anyone uses but the goal is to grow acros like weeds. I’ll share updates in the future.

the “shaded” corners get 250 par. This is with the 400w.

my T5 and AI hydra 32s where putting out 300 par at the top and 80 on the sand bed. Halides are the best hands down.

Just finished reading all 17 pages.:grinning-face-with-sweat:

Would be great to get updated pics of how things have progressed for those who switched to the ReefBrite halide fixtures.

I still need to finish the facade of the canopy, but all I can say is, fish and coral have never looked better. Quanta pro bars are on for 12hrs and the halides (2x250w SE Hamilton 14k) are on for 6.5hrs. The two 12v fans only come on when the temp hits 77.5 and the temp hasn’t gone above 78.

Here is a shot of my old 120 gallon from back in 2016. I was using the 36" reefbrite with two XHO actinic strips. I miss this tank:

I'm brand new to Reef Brite, but I love mine. Thinking of adding the LED strips, but I'm totally fine the way it is now.

I do think the spread is great, but with a narrow reflector, the spread isn't as good as a larger reflector like a Cayman Sun or a more square, larger reflector.

I'm in no way throwing off on Reef Brite, as I wouldn't get rid of mine for anything. The Reef Brite ballasts are very good too.

Now that I'm 100% MH, I'm going to stock up on about 20 DE bulbs.

Tank is about 2 months old.
