We're thinking about a new light for one of the tanks and have pretty much decided on a Reefbreeders led . Budget is defiinitely a consideration but we don"t want to regret buying the older series light . We were looking for opinions as to whether the meridians are worth the extra 25% or not . I'm not quite sure what the differences are .

I run RB' on 2 systems.
2 50's on one
1 24 on the other.
If you can find a used photon and want a quality light at a discount then a used photon is a good option.
If money is not an issue get the Meridian.
I will be using the Meridian bars on another build shortly.
My ext 170 and rs 170

I'm running two photon v2 pros over my SPS tank and have no complaints. They've been over the tank about 2.5yrs.

I have a meridian 11 over my IM20 and also have no complaints. I've only had the light for a few months and it's a new tank so I can't really comment on coral growth but my clams seem happy enough and I'm getting 350 - 400 par on the ones up high.

If I were buying new I would go with meridians. Reefbreeders support is awesome also which is important to me.

Thanks very much for your reply . We're looking at a 24 inch light and it looks like we can still get a new photon pro from the website . Quite a bit cheaper too

Support is definitely important but I can still get a new photon pro from the website . Do they use the same app?

I'm pretty sure they both will run on the same app but I have heard of someone having trouble connecting a newly purchase photon to the new app but I don't know the details. Maybe reach out to @Reef Breeders to verify. I'm using the old app on my photons and the new app on the meridian. I like the new app better and it's my understanding I can migrate to the new app with my photons but i haven't bothered yet.

If you can get it at a better price, I would not be afraid. I only have a 24" RB Photon but I love it. I honestly can't think of needing anything else.
