I’m considering buying the 350 g2+ but I’ve heard the g1 and g2 experience a lot of leaks. What is the major difference between the g2+ and g2? I tried searching up tank failures for the g2+ but I mostly see the g1 and g2 failing. Does anybody have experience with the g2+ and what are some good alternatives?

The G2+ series has an upgraded ATO, reinforced cabinets, and a better warranty (5yrs), vs. the G2 series…

However, that hasn’t stopped G2+ tanks from having seam failures, and I’m not a big fan of transferring livestock to holding tanks while rushing a new warranty tank into place…

I heard most of the leaks were caused by the uneven distribution of weight on the middle of the cabinet.

Ah, that is what Red Sea would LOVE you to believe… it isn’t true…

The primary cause of these tank failures is a combination of defective silicone, and general tank design… I personally have one (r450, G2) which has partial silicone seam separation in three separate places…

This thread spells it out much better than I have the energy to; I’ll share it for the sake of educating anyone else who reads this later while considering a Red Sea aquarium…

This was a fabrication by RS as well as them stating it was only larger tanks failing. They also banned anyone from their FB pages that posted about a tank failure. That tells me they do not want to discuss the issue publicly.
The silicone that they use fails and causes the leaks. It has nothing to do with the stands. My reefer 170 seam failed in the upper right front corner. I'm keeping an eye on my reefer 300 but it will be the last RS tank I purchase. A 5 year warranty is meaningless IMO since it will do nothing to repair water damage or lost livestock. Perform some searches and you'll find it isn't just large tanks with no center brace that have failed.
