I've got a few fish arriving tomorrow. Hope all arrives alive. I purchased 3 chromis, 1 royal gramma, and a cleaner shrimp.

After researching dragonettes, I think I'll pass for now. They seem to be pretty demanding. In the off chance I change my mind, I scratched out the chalk bass as those colors might clash some. The fanged blennies were sold out.

Shipment update: Cleaner shrimp was DOA. Sucks. Everything else was alive though, the gramma was a little stressed.

After adding the fish to the tank, one of the chromis found himself in the clownfish hosted corner of the tank. Poor guy :(... I placed the gramma into the cave I think would do best in, unfortunately, the pygmy angel was literally going nuts screaming "MINE, MINE, MINE, MINE" You could almost hear him. So, we shall see how things go. I'm a little worried.

Day 2 update on new fish.

The blue-green chromis's have settled in and are schooling nicely. The clowns are no longer going nuts over their presence. The royal gramma has survived his first night and staying close to his safe spot while venturing inches away for a moment. However, the female clown has been staying close to that safe spot as well. The cherub is displaying some weird behavior now. Basically, chasing his reflection in the glass. Not sure if he thinks that I've added another cherub but that is what it appears to be. Hopefully he calms down from that. From what i can tell, everyone is eating and pooping. All good signs.

Just received the new Tunze 9004 skimmer. First thoughts is, I'm going to break this thing at some point. Coming from the aquamaxx to this, it just feels cheaply made. Maybe it's not, time will tell. Also,, the collection cup was a little smaller than I anticipated. I hope it can go a week without dumping. ;Cyclops

Here is a before picture.

And the after, don't ask why the light shifted. I think the lights were starting to ramp down.

Fits perfectly!

Fish update.

The cherub is being a jerk to the royal gramma. The gramma has been in hiding since introduction. He does eat when given the chance but the cherub does his best to out compete him. Hope this passes. I was kind of hoping the gramma would stand his ground. We will see..

I'm thinking it was a bad decision on my part. Though there are plenty hiding places, the tank size might be the limiting factor here. My "queenie" the female clown isn't showing any issues with the gramma like stated a couple days ago. However, the cherub is acting like Napoleon. The gramma does look very healthy. Nice bright rich colors with a silky body but not enough good looks to awe his tank mates. He's about 2-2.5 inches in size and shouldn't be a chicken. Yet, that's not the case.

It's funny to watch them. I generally think I have mellow fish. But most of them are actually jerks.
They all seem to have figured it out though. Kinda weird.
And they all seem to have an unwritten truce at 6:45. They school together because I feed at 7. Even the fire fish.

Also, any update on the 9004 skimmer after a week?

My JBJ Rimless 30 was delivered Wednesday and I have the 9004 also as you may recall. Following. Thanks!

Actually, it's a tri-color valida.

To be honest about the 9004, I hated it at first. The thought of having a break in period is stupid in my opinion. However, once you grasp how it works it works great! It's giving me a nice skim. Thing about it was the water level mark on the skimmer body. Since its a fairly close fit in the rear chamber, the water sort of creeps up the sides of the body so when adding it to the back, place the water line 2 or 3mm above the water level. You'll know what I'm talking about when you set it up. Also the air intake for the skimmer beeds to be close to closed to get a dry skim.
