Ibew electrician here so you know I dedicated an entire circuit for my reef tank. That way whenever I lose power I can backfeed the entire tank with a generator.

Retired but own mountain air custom air guns and work/build custom air guns to keep me busy. (although I have a Blue Shrimp tank and desk bowl, Tetra tank, and a Koi Pond) Nano reef tank is in the on-hold stage since I am selling my house to build a bigger Koi Pond. Will have plenty of time to make Reefing one of my hobbies once I get started up. I really want to get started now but don't want to have to tear it down when moving. Will have enough on my plate.

I am A retired Pipefitter, and 26 years in Heating Ventilation, and Air Conditioning HVAC big words for fixes furnaces and air conditioners need supreme electrical, and physics knowledge ha ha. I cannot keep myself from going back to work. Just did a two week 10 hours a day, 6 days a week stint for 8 grand clear . Cant beat getting a trade just had to say that for all the young people who look down their noses at us

I consider being a Millwright the trade second to refrigeration for having the most tangents. Refrigeration is first to me. If some one wants to retire with everything paid for by 50 that s the trade. I have a license for it but would not have the nerve to say I am one .

Yeah, i get it. Millwright can mean anything anymore. I turned out from Detroit local 1102 in 2008. So my card is from the building trades, like Pipefitters. I did go in house 13 years ago at a local electric company though.

I knew a Dutch guy that was in the underground during the second world war, and hopefully last . He found out that three of his acquaintances were collaborators. He invited the over to drink wine. When the time was right he got up and shot them all. Its a true story because I asked him. He is long gone now. Ted Vanderlande. He was invited to Holland to get a medal from the queen. Apparently the security was unbelievable since people wanted him dead. He always sat by himself sipping whiskey from a shot glass . All he did was line up three phase motors. No one bothered him ever. Cool Guy

So what is your first choice for an inverter in an event of a power failure?

Subsea computers talked to surface computers, where I was on the ship. When required underwater, we used ROV & robiotics with fiber optics and multiplexing technology from the phone company as well as acoustic technology for emergency backup controls borrowed from the Navy.

In a former life I was doing similar but more focused on acoustical positioning for deep water completions. Everyone hates survey on those jobs but they needed us. Most of the rov's back then did not have fiber optics yet but started when we moved to some of the deeper jobs. Think the deepest installation was around 7000' in the gulf... fun stuff.

I did some time with local 1607 for a bit due being a licensed welder. Niche was conveyor installation/commissioning/repairs for baggage handling systems in airports. Learned a LOT, did pretty good while I was in that environment. Almost stuck with it as a second act, but realized aircraft maintenance still treated me better (then pensions died).

I was an EMT for a couple years and somehow started driving a Tow Truck. Apparently I loved that so much I’m still there 17 years later and I now own the company. 2nd largest in the state of Colorado and I’ve grown it to 38 trucks. So now I can proudly say I’m Self Employed lol

A guy who worked for me said he wanted to learn how to weld, and I said it was a great idea, lots of career opportunities in it, and that he should go look at one of the trade unions. We have a pipefitters union chapter local here so I recommended he go check it out. Of course he didn't listen to me. Oh well, his loss.

There isn't enough money in the world for me to go back to work. I have too many hobbies and no time for work.

I work in medical research, senior laboratory animal technician. I monitor the health of thousands of animals daily. Physical and behavioral characteristics, husbandry, breeding colonies, post op surgical monitoring, etc. Everything is logged. Everything is routine. Everything is done in a humane and scientific manner. Definitely rolls right into reef keeping.
