Ok...HELP! Please.

My refugium lighting is not supporting my algae...only cotton candy!

I heard LEDs were the answer.

Any good advice experience available on refugium lighting pls?

What makes you think it's the light? Kind of macro? Photoperiod? Other info?

A 6500k grow light...on24/7. My LFS said perfect. If you like growing cotton candy!

$20,000 tank running on poop home depot light in $2000 refugium with Bubble King, Ca Reactor, Phosphate reactor...Apex Controller.

Large refugium...50lbs live rock.

I know. Silly. Help me...how do I build the refugium my tank deserves? Thanks!

I would run your fugium light oppisite of your tank lights. This will help maintain constant ph level in the tank as well. I would not run them for 24/7.

You need to consider the chlorophyll

Chlorophyll - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are two types A & B

One responds better to a warmer spectrum the other to a cooler 450nm...

When choosing a sump light The Cree Cool White LED has both a nice even white curve 650-500nm and a 450nm spike.

http://www.cree.com/products/pdf/xlamp7090xr-e.pdf

Based on our research this is the best grow light for marine applications.

When choosing a PAR 38 Sump Light ensure the LED is the Cree XR-E or XP-E Cool White

Ok....good stuff. Keep it coming.

I need the perfect refugium....benefits are obvious since I have heavy fish loads (crosshatch mini pair, adult powder blue, flame wrasse pair, anthias school) plus tons of Lps...some sps.

Now...I have not figured out how to post pics on R2R...believe it or not. Help! I went to Photobucket, opened acct. Where the ??? Is the post pic button? Someday I will have a couple hours to breathe and figure it out.

Thx..my tank looks great to me. Would love to share pics! Any help on refugium is awesome! Thx!

if they are save to your computer, then the less popular way is to use the the little icon to the right of the envelope, select files then upload them. u can only do 5 per post but its a start.

I liternally use a cheap Home depot shop light with a energy saver bulb. It is only on for 10-12 hours on an opposite cycle from my daylights and my chaeto grows like crazy!! I think your problem is the 24/7 light cycle....you shouldnt have it on all the time!

Refugium lighting is the last place I would sweat LED's for their spectral specificity... utterly unnecessary IMHO. Shop lights, power compacts... Sure. LED's? If you have money you're trying desperately to get rid of... K.
If you do go LED, I would urge neutral whites... you want red and blue influence.
