It had a good run but my 5 year old elegance coral has passed its essence and nutrients on to the system. It literally melted in two days, no warning whatsoever. Everything else in the reef is fine and my parameters were normal(for my tank). Sometimes we forget in our hubris that we’re lucky to have these beauties in the first place. My wife compared me to that guy in Return of the Jedi crying over his rancor! It had become a centerpiece in my reef and now I have to stare at the huge empty spot where it was. I have a nice bubble coral but it doesn’t have the same BAM! that the elegance had, it was the size of a football. It started in a 10 gallon Nuvo, moved to a 28gallon JBJ, finally settled in my 65gallon. My clowns loved it, they won’t touch the bubble though. Guess I’ll have to find me another nickel sized frag to start and hope it can live up to this one.

Wow— a wonderful 3-tank journey, but a heartbreaking ending to the story. I thought I was going to read about it bailing out of it’s skeleton; but a sudden melt-away. Tragic.

Sorry for your loss! I have a question though about one of those tank pictures.... how did you get the rock attached to the side of your tank?
