I’m looking to return to the hobby after an 18 year break. I used to have 90 gallon mixed reef and was reasonably successful with it. At this point I’m somewhat undecided on whether I want a large nano to remind myself how to do things again or just go straight to a large tank.

For simplicity and ease of entry I like some of the AIO’s that I see and in particular I like some of the automation in the RedSea ecosystem but I am concerned about the tank failures I see there as well. I definitely would like to automate and remotely monitor as much as possible due still traveling for work some. That said I always told myself that when I returned it would be with a starfire tank and it would be bare bottom…I guess we will see.

Anyways I plan to research for a while and just wanted to say hello. My friends call me Chop

Hello Chop, and welcome!
Please don’t risk a Red Sea Tank. It would be sad to see your name listed in that growing list of seam failures! There are so many other wonderful brands to choose from out there that you wouldn’t need to worry about!

Welcome back.
I wouldnt risk a red sea tank.
It would be very discouraging to get back into the hobby only to lose some or all of your livestock due to a seam failure (not to mention the mess and possible damage to your house).
