Rick's Ulitmate Build

I have heard people lay a little Tupperware container full of sand in a corner and the wrasse will sleep there... Just a option..

Awesome skimmer!

That skimmer is still cranking out the bad stuff :bad_smelly:

I have considered it and even done it in the past. The sand has a habit of not staying in the container though. I might add more wrasses later that need some sand and have to do something

SCRANTON STRANGLER!!!!

lol I had to google that, don't watch that show though :waaaht:

Are you staying bare bottom then? I have a bare bottom reef because getting in there every week to siphon sand isnt easy due to rock work etc...

Yep thats the plan, probably 15 out of the last 20 years I have done bare bottom

Got my wave box working, for the most part. Still have 2 bad Tunzes and one Tunze not in the tank. But I have it put together and working. So heres a couple pics and a video

It was built into the tank on the side of the overflows. The sides of the overflow have grooves that a plate slides into. I just had to cut the holes for the tunzes in the plates and make a bracket to hold the magnets. One pictures show the bracket that holds the tunzes on the top of the tank, the second as it is sliding into place

dang rick where were u when i was designing my tank looks good nic how the wave box is hidden. Anyway how far apart are your corals acros esp?

Thanks, I thought it was a very slick way to incorporate wave boxes with next to 0 visual impact. Must be a tough crowd with only 2 comments on it. I do consultation on design when you build you next one or when you are ready to revamp your current one lol

I try to put 6-8 inches between the acros, depending on growth rates and their location. I'd really like to limit the number of frags in the tank

lol Lee I thought u change your tank stuff just as often as I do. I was looking at Ricks tank the other day and ended up moving a ton of rock around to make more of a slope so the light covers more rock. Not to mention pulling a bunch of cheapy corals, grape, red monti, brown acros colonys and the like. I like the depth (front to back) of your tank I should have pushed Brett to make mine at least 36 from front to back. Rock is almost to the front glass.

In the Foreground Fowlers Tang Acanthurus fowleri
Of the 5 convict tangs the only food I could get them to eat was some type of red algae, live not dried. And while they grazed constantly I couldn't keep a constant supply of that algae and 4 ended up dying. One is now eating Nori the surviver and has finally started gaining weight
