They spawn a few times a year. Around thanksgiving I had somewhere over 200 babies. And then had a major asterina outbreak and most of the babies disappeared. I can't say definitively that the stars ate them, but they were there, and now aren't. Shrug.

Aw that's really sad I'm sorry. I hope you get more next time. I'm getting more adults in soon to continue raising them. Share any pics you'd like on here.

Here are the ones I have that aren't on rocks. The largest are about dime size.

This is awesome! I got my first rock flower about 6 months ago and I'm now addicted. I'm up to 9....
I know you can't tell male from female but is there anyway to tell they are going to spawn? Any signs or hints?

You kind of have to catch them in the act to know that they've spawned. Mouth will be gaping a bit, and the obvious white whisps out of the mouth of the male. Eleet those are gorgeous! Hoping for a cool colors with mine, they're still small as you can see. Have about 50 still so odds are there will be.

I apologize for my absence, I've had a lot going on between work and my other systems. Nothing too big to note, they're growing steadily and gaining more color, looks like more reds and maybe some greens coming in.

As of 3/15/2017

Offspring: +/-30

Feeding schedule is the same, phytoplankton and usually rotifers now that they're larger and the other corals kept in this system are all zoanthids and Palythoa frags. The microfauna population in this system is also insane so I'm sure they catch plenty from the water column naturally. Pics below.

About 6 or so still in the original glass I had the tiny young in.

Lots on and behind the ceramic block, these are growing the fastest on account of being directly under the halide.

I feel bad there have been some lost but that's bound to happen especially with the first batch in this system. I'll have more adults coming in soon to put with the others so hopefully I'll have another group soon.

Okay update time! They're growing steadily but slowly, the majority that I can actually get pictures of are around 8mm wide now. There's about 15 left, had a higher mortality rate than I wanted but oh well I'll see if I can get more in the next batch I'm hoping one of the adults is brooding more young. My pics are lame as the Halides are off so these were taken with an 8,000k LED flashlight haha. The color on these looks to be coming in mostly red. Pics below.

They're mostly on this rock still, about ten of them on it.

Another one next to the rock, with two way behind it I can't get pics of.

A couple runts that are on frag plugs with Zoanthids, not sure why they're growing so much slower, I'm assuming because they're being shaded.

The system is still being fed phytoplankton nightly, mixed with either rotifers, brine shrimp nauplii or golden pearls 5-50 micron and 100-200 micron.

Thanks for following along, I'll try to get pics with the lights on whenever I'm home earlier next.

Of course i haven't scrubbed the glass in the display, but here's two of the visible adults, the other two are also green but have (annoyingly) moved to the other side of the rock. I'm working on getting a few more red ones in a week or so.
