RODI booster pump issue

Hi there, I am new to ref tanks, getting ready to set up my first tank and begin cycling.

I had purchased a used 90 gallon set up that was really well maintained including a BRS six stage 150 gallon per day reverse osmosis system that I installed. I am on a well and installed an in-line pressure gauge prior to my first filter and have a max psi of 40. I subsequently bought an Aquatech 8800. I installed the pump immediately after the water source. I am getting out pressures of around 100 to 110, great improvement in output with reduction of waste water. I did install the electronic switch After the final DI resin container.

My issue is that I installed a manual valve after the electronic switch and Even when I close the valve, the pump keeps running. I was under the assumption that the back pressure from the valve should cut off the pump. There is an ASO switch still installed That was used by the previous owner for his ATO.
Is this likely causing an issue with the electronic switch? Is this something I should remove or is there likely another issue? Looking for some direction

The ASO switch turns off the booster pump. Back pressure will just burn the pump up.

There is a tiny allen head set screw on the electronic switch that is preset from the factory. My pump never shut off either until I loosened the set screw adjusting the pressure to a lower level. Works every time now that it has been adjusted. With the unit running, back out the screw until it shuts the pump off when your RO container is full.

I would make sure you are not over pressuring your membrane. I run my booster at 75 psi. The booster pump will turn off, it just needs to some time to compress the air in the system and build up 40 psi.

The ASO switch typically has a small Allen for adjustment too… factory preset (usually 40psi) is typically fine!

If you do choose to adjust it; try counting how many quarter-turns you’re adjusting it so you can return it to factory adjustment if you don’t like your results!

Unless I am missing it on the directions, I don’t see how to adjust the pressure on the pump. Is there a way to directly adjust that, or do I have to buy some kind of a gate valve?

Look on the top of the pump for a small silver Allen screw, that is your pump pressure adjustment if it’s an Aquatech from the last decade or so!
