I’m sure a similar question has probably been asked but as a newb to the saltwater world does anyone have container recommendations for holding my rodi water?? I just got my BRS 75gpd unit in the mail today and I see a lot of hobbyists use brute trash cans with float valves etc but I really don’t have that much room for a trash can in my pantry closet. Was wondering if anyone else uses like 20-30 gallon containers to make small batches for topping off & water changes. Ideally I would like to use a submersible pump to refill my 120 gallon so I’m looking for something with a decent sized lid or top! Any suggestions?

Nice, I didn’t realize the standard brute trash cans are 32 gal I guess I definitely need more like 15-20gal. Are you able to use a pump with that 15 gallon or do you manually top off?

I don’t use much water with my 50 gallon tank

I use a white VP Racing 5 gallon gas can.

I set the RO unit and the can in my bath tub and set a 30 minute timer on my phone.

I actually have 3 white (opaque) gas jugs. I use one for top off water only. The other two I use for water changes. I can see the water level in the jug I siphon to and match it to the volume of saltwater in the other jug.

I use a minijet 404 pump to move water out of both jugs. I have two pumps.

i use a 10 gallon tank from a petco dollar per gallon sale. Made a lid out of acrylic and boom, whole thing was like $25. i like the clear tank because i can see how full it is. i have a marker mark on mine that is the lowest the pump can pull from, so if i peak in i can kinda see how much time i can continue to ignore it. (i also built an ato that sends me a text message when it is out of water... so, i ignore it quite a bit)

You can get smaller brute cans.
When the rodi first comes on it needs a few minutes to pressurize / produce zero tds. When it first comes on it will produce tds. Those tds will settle to the bottom and accumulate.
Just some food for thought

... ops. wrong container application, i see now...

for this, a brute works, but if you can find a local plastics supplier, they have some awesome options. For mine i have a HDPE 55 gallon drum with a snap top lid, so i can get in it to clean it out. They also make a 15 gallon snap top drum if you want something smaller, or even stackable chemical totes with lids. If you find a good supplier, they will sell them to you wholesale, which is going to be like half of what the online retailers will sell it to you for, and you don't have to pay shipping.

Thanks for the suggestions yall! I ended up buying a HDPE 15 gallon barrel from Home Depot that I probably paid way too much for ($60) but it fits perfectly where I need it. It took forever to make 120 gallons of RODI water but the tank is finally filled up a week later:cool:
