Is there a strong reason not to put my RODI unit in my attic? I’ve got a decked attic with my water heaters up there. My thought was to put the actual 4 stage filter in the attic, with my bulk storage below it in the garage.

Reason I am considering this is because I want to run a direct line from my rodi unit to my ATO container. If the Neptune LLS get below xx” open solenoid and fill ATO; otherwise it’s filling the bulk storage or off. I’ve got an easy access path to get the output line from my attic to my tank. It’d be more effort to get the output from the laundry room sink (where it’s currently setup) up into the attic and back down.

My only concern is the summer heat, but I’d think I’d be fine if the bulk storage tank is in my insulated garage? Maybe I have to keep a closer eye on the media?

Any thoughts?

My only concern is the summer heat
Short of the obvious concern about any fitting or seal on the system leaking at the highest point in the home (subsequently leaking down to water damage living space ceilings and walls)…

The heat is indeed a concern! Water is less dense at higher temperatures, and Dow Filmtec membranes state a maximum continuous operating temperature of 45C (113F)!

(There is a secondary high PH maximum Filmtec membrane operating temp which is likely somewhat less relevant here: “Maximum temperature for continuous operation above pH 10 is 95°F (35°C)”)

Why wouldn't you just tap into the water up there and run a line down in the garage and put the rodi system and storage tank right next to each other.

Is there a strong reason not to ...[snip]... run a direct line from my rodi unit to my ATO container.

If you run the RODI into the ATO container, and the ATO fails 'on', you lose the ability to control how much water can flow into the reef in an 'on' failure condition (which is usually the amount in the ATO container). This may not be a strong reason, and depending on the system setup is more or less concerning, but it is a reason.

First of. Think about water pressure. The higher up the more pressure it looses. You might want to check what pressure you will have. Since RODI requires higher pressures on higher GPD’s

I wouldnt...what about leaks. freezing, or having to get up there to change the filters and thats kind of messy with spills when you change them
