Hi everyone! I have a large 50 gallon baffel like Don showed below. I have had it for over 5 months and I really need to clean this thing :(. What are some of your methods of cleaning out these really large containers when the entry is so dang small. I will post a picture of my setup shortly but I only have one 50 gallon drum but I'm not considering two after reading this thread. For now, let me know what you think is the best way to clean this thing. This is my first official post on R2R so looking forward to the responses.
When I first got mine the previous owner had been using it for a huge Kalk system. It had stuff caked on all over. I filled it with water from the garden hose, added 2 gallons of vinegar and left it with a pump running to circulate for 24 hours. Drained and rinsed - perfect.

Thank you Don! Should I heat it at all to 78 when with vinagear is in there? Do you think I’ll need to scrub it at all because I’ll have to figure out how to do that.

What about any problems with unwanted mold etc. Growing inside these holding containers?

So I tried this and the vinegar worked pretty good but I think I need a pressure washer to rinse this bad boy because I see a good amount of brown stain still in the container.

@Rachid Stoury did you add a new bulkhead to the bottom of the storage tanks? Haven’t see that before but it’s an interesting idea to make sure you get all the water out of the tanks.

Looks like I missed out. I don’t see any of the tanks available on RK.

any other places to order from? Looking for some 100g tanks.

Good ideas shared here. Thanks.

Here is mine. I can either have saltwater, mix the saltwater, or fresh rodi. 3/4" pvc goes straight through the wall to a barbed fitting and 15ft of silicon tubing. The vectra controller is also on the other side.

Simply adjust valves as needed. Turn pump on and pour!

The 100 gallon allows me to do a 30% water change on my 225G DT and 75G sump.

I got my tanks at Tractor Supply. You can also check any local sprinkler/irrigation stores.
