I’m wondering if anyone gets their water from the ocean for their tanks? I’m on the coast in the wilmington NC area and wondering what the thoughts are on doing this. I’ve only been running a tank for 10 months so very new to this. I’ve got my own boat and getting ocean water would not be a problem.

I would not recommend this with water from Wilmington. Biota does it in Florida but the water is much different there.

I am not sure but i do know 2 things, natural saltwater is dirty by the coast so even if you did use it you would need to collect from off coast area. second thing is our aquariums are extremely tiny boxes of water that cannot any impurities where the ocean is so vast it basically filters itself, what i am trying to say is it may be fine until it is not fine and you wont know if it is the saltwater or something else. On the flip side if i lived by the coast, moreover on the water i would try it......just because i am curious.
