After quite a bit of furniture rearranging I was able to give myself a full 6 feet of available wall space.

First of all, let me extend my deepest condolences to you on the loss of your son. I know that no words can ever repair the pain you feel. Never having had the pleasure of being a parent, I can never begin to understand the depth of what you must feel.
I really admire your style. I totally get the way you think and kudos for the lime green truck!! I look forward to reading more as you progress through this build.

Decided that before I installed a larger tank in the bedroom, I really wanted to get rid of the carpet. Started trying to figure that into the budget and realized it was going to set me back quite a bit.
Then started thinking. Only a few months before we decided to buy the new house, we had installed new pergo flooring in the old house.
(The old house is my great grandfather's house that I had inherited)
Currently the living room of the old house is being used as a home gym so the floor is covered with rubber mats anyway.
Now we are pulling up the planks of click together laminate from the old house to use to replace the carpet in our master bedroom.
I think it's going to look really good with the new furniture also.

If I may? I have a lot of experience with Pergo flooring. One thing that I know without doubt, Pergo does NOT like water. I can't even count how many times I have had to replace Pergo flooring that a homeowner has wet-mopped and destroyed. If you do go that route, make sure you have a gameplan to deal with the spillage you will have while working on your tank.

Yea, it's not ideal and I much would have rather gone with something like vinyl plank but it's just not in the budget right now. Over the years pergo has made some significant improvements to their water resistance... but even the lines they sell as "waterproof" are definitely not.

Agreed. It is better today than 20 years ago,
A couple fluffy towels on the floor before you start work should be fine.
My house is mostly tile flooring which is fine for being waterproof, but the flipside is when the tile gets wet, it is slicker than a used car salesman. Took a nasty fall about 8 months ago when I hit a wet spot I missed while cleaning up after water change.

Right now I'm still spending most of my time just doing research about what tank I would like to have. I think I've narrowed out
It down to just a few.
I'm a short female with some autoimmune mobility issues so the idea of the @Waterbox Aquariums frag system really appeals to me. It's total height of the tank and stand combined is still short enough to allow me to reach in and touch the bottom of the tank without needing a step stool. I think maintenance would be ideal in this tank.
If I went with this tank it would be going into my bedroom along the wall space that I just opened up.
The other tank that I really like is actually the first choice for the rest of my family. It is the @Innovative Marine 112 INT.
If we go with this tank we would be putting it in the living room in the spot where my fluval 32 flex currently sits. The innovative marine tank doesn't come with a sump but the stand is aluminum and I really like the square shape of the tank and the aspect of having three large viewing panes.
Both tanks have their pros and cons and either way I'm still a long way off from saving up enough $$ to decide

Can't tell you which tank to pick but I love all 3 of my IM tanks. I will say being 5 foot tall I am so happy to have a shallow (er) tank that I can actually reach the bottom and it makes it so much easier to take care of.

My youngest son and I got all of the flooring pulled up today from the old house.
It looks so weird in there right now. We are really only using that house for storage anymore so it's a disaster in there.

Covid managed to hit my house pretty hard. Honestly we have been really lucky up until now, and even with me working in healthcare this was my first time getting the virus. My fever was up over 102°F for several days, and not much has gotten done on the tanks for several weeks.
Both tanks have suffered but nothing a good cleaning won't help.

Once I finally got over covid we took a trip down to Orlando and visited @WWC for the first time in a while. We used to go really often but just hadn't made it recently.
We picked up a waterbox peninsula 25 gallon tank and moved everything from my 10 gallon cube into the new 25.

I am really happy with how the 25 gallon has turned out, the coral seem to be appreciating the extra room also.
I kept most of the same equipment from the waterbox 10, still using the sicce syncra 1.5 return pump and the innovative marine helio heater. I did add a second Nero 3 WaveMaker. Right now I'm still running the single AI Prime light but I'm thinking about upgrading it eventually. I also have a new skimmer on order.

Added a new piece of branch rock behind the existing rock scape to give myself more room for corals. Trying to get most things off the frag racks if I can. I know that my torches and chalice are going to have to stay up on the racks until I get a larger tank.
