Would 3in of crushed coral substrate support a jawfish burrow? Thanks in advance.

Argonite, Live Sand, etc. will all be fine of that depth.

I had jaw fish years ago. They seemed to like coarse rubble. I would use a mix of sizes. Most stuff I read says 3 to 4 inches. I think mine was no more than 3 and they did fine. It also does not need to be 3 inches deep everywhere. As long as there are a number of locations, they will figure it out.

Thanks I do have some live sand I can add to make it more varied.

You need mixed substrate. Crushed coral alone is too course. Get caribsea super reef sand. 4”. Your entire tank doesn’t need to be 4”. Maybe an area 1 foot by 1 foot

They like to be able to be near the front part of the tank so they can get a good view of things, not in a back corner
