Hello,

Welcome to my documentation and journey with this amazing hobby.

This system has been set up for the last two years but the first year was nothing but issues. I would lose acropora and LPS from RTN and polyp bailout. After many ICP tests and nearly throwing in the towel I found that I had a high level of aluminum and tin. I believe this was caused from corroded clamps on the plumbing and old style marine pure bio blocks. After switching out the clamps for plastic ratchet type clamps, removing the marine pure blocks and doing massive amounts of water changes things finally settled down.

Here is a list of the equipment:
  • 3x Kessil A360X lights - running a modified AB+ program
  • 1 Aquatic Life hybrid T5 fixture with 4 actinic bulbs
  • 2x Gyre XF250 wavemakers set to random, alternating pulse
  • 2x MP 40's
  • 1 Ecotech vectra return pump
  • 1 Reef Octopus 220SSS protein skimmer
  • 1 C02 scrubber reactor
  • 1 Kessil A360X refugium light
  • Filter socks
  • 5 gallon ATO container
  • BRS carbon / GFO reactor
  • Varios CR200 calcium reactor
  • Neptune APEX
  • Neptune Trident
  • DOS ( Automatic Water Changes )
  • HW Marine mix Reefer salt

I keep my parameters at:

  • Alkalinity - 8.5 - 9.0
  • Calcium - 500
  • Magnesium - 1400
  • Phosphates - .10
  • Nitrates - 5
  • PH - 8.3
  • Salinity 35ppt
  • Temp - 78

I have a mixture of SPS including acropora, montipora, and other encrusting sps. Of course I love torches / hammers along with the occasional other fluffy lps. I'll try to throw a list of inhabitants together based off of the response I get and if people are interested ( its a lot of coral ).

Fish include:
  • Black longnose tang
  • Regal tang
  • Powder blue tang
  • Yellow tang
  • 2x Clowns
  • 4x banghai cardinals
  • 5x lyretail anthias
  • 2x firefish
  • 5x yellow tail damsels
  • 2x blue spotted leopard wrasse
  • pygmy angelfish
  • Lamarks angelfish

Continuing to see constant growth from all coral in the system.

Had to lower PH in reactor to 6.47 and max out the Kamoer at 132.7 ml. I'm hoping its just because I'm low on media in the reactor.

Confirmed drop in alkalinity with Hanna.

Just ordered the same tank! Thanks for posting build.

Did you build your stand?
How big is sump?
I wanna try to fit a 40 breeder under it
