SCA 50GAL SPS BUILD

Hey everyone I’m new to R2R and I’ve Decided to share the progress of my new build! I bought a used SCA 50 gal cube aquarium with stand and sump for $200. After cleaning it up a bit I decided to remove the black vinyl backing. I went ahead and painted the back as well as the bottom of the tank with Rustoleum enamel gloss black.

Working on the over flow and return plumbing today. Out with the old in with the new

Lesson learned. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN BULK HEADS!

A bit of progress today I removed the old mat and replaced it. I started the plumbing with white schedule 40 pvc but it looked ugly so I decided to go the cheap route and paint it grey and black. The only real union pieces are the ball valves. I’m using threaded bulk heads does any one know if Teflon tape is good enough to keep a seal, or is there something better I should be using? I’m also thinking about paining the inside of the stand black

Just about ready to finish the build and start the cycle. I’ve been running RODI to test the pluming and tank for leaks.Everything looks good. I will be finishing the build some time during the week hopefully.

I’ve had a small nano for over a year but I was never too serious about it. Now I’m jumping to the deep end.

negative, maybe if i ever organize it where it looks nice i'll get one going lol.. my converted dog food container acting as my ATO next to the tank isn't the most aesthetically pleasing
