Hmmm… recently checked my water parameters, ALK is at 8dkh. I add 15ml/100L alk which adds 0.25dkh. checked again my ALK at the end of the day, and it’s still 8dkh. Are my corals really consuming 0.25dkh of alk a day? So should i bump up my alk dose so I can eventually reach 9dkh(ofc im not gonna do it in 1 day) ?

tank is dominated with LPS there’s around 10 of them

Thanks guys

0.25 dKH in a day is a low consumption rate, and kits don’t especially well track small changes, so it does not seem unusual to me.

But 8 dKH is fine and I would not aim for a higher target unless you have a clear reason in mind for doing so.

Totally possible to be consuming that much. Corals are not the only thing that will consume it. If you have a good amount of coralline algae, that can increase the consumption considerably. My deskmate 4.8G dips as much as .12 a day And its just nems and live rock. But coralline algae has imploded recently.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I’m just afraid the alk would drop down, so I’m trying to bump it up a little either to 8.5-9.0

Make sense, I think my rock is 50-60% covered with coraline. Not to mention the powerheads and wave maker
