Hello. We have a sea hare that somehow prolapsed or ejected his mouth and has been unable to heal on his own. I think he ate something that was too large for his system and while trying to eject that he ejected his insides. He’s been this way for about a week and has been unable to eat. He was very healthy when it happened (and I believe he is still healthy besides this injury) and continues to show no sign of splitting in the rear (a telltale sign that a sea hare is not doing well) or that he wants to eject his inner shell. We’ve had him in a quarantine box for the past week. We’d like to find a way to help him but we understand that it’s a long shot. Have any of you dealt with this? Do you have any recommendations on how we can fix him?

Thanks.

This could be its male reproductive organ. Sea hares posses both male and female reproductive parts, with the female organ down the middle of its body on the same side.

That said, I can't tell you why this is extended and not retracting (they usually do after a short time).

He can’t eat because of it. And it seems to be coming out of his mouth, is there a way to tell the difference.
