True, I can see that; but I've read accounts when people have tried that then the next day they find their fish swimming upside down? Something about polluted water with that method. I don't know?
Every tank's different. You know how that goes.

As is every pair of feet.

That's a really good point. This is a complicated discussion, though. Frankly, I'm glad you jumped in because the only thing @SeaDweller wants to talk about in this lame thread is the colors he's getting out of his SPS. No one cares about that.

You can count on me keeping the facts straight. Contamination by feet can be a serious problem. And we shouldn’t ignore feet no3/po4. I highly recommend using some feet gfo or soak them in nopox before. Can’t be too careful.

Thought I’d keep track of some stuff in a thread. I have four 48 V2+ over my tank, and I’m happy with how they’re growing my acros, keeping color. Perhaps could be larger at this point under MH or T5, but I’d say I’m cruisin along...

Oh my. Can I drop by some time with my bonecutters? 1/2 hour should do. You don't need to be there or anything. I will lock up on my way out. ;)

I will gladly pay you on Tuesday for a homewrecker today.

I can't wait until february to post some pics. Ever since dropping par, I did lose the pinks on my RC Poison Envy though...

I’m looking forward to more pictures.

What are you using to clean the rear glass on that monster? I use a Tunze magnet for the front and sides but needed another tool for the back. I just ordered this bad boy and I've used it twice. 28” length and it can use a standard credit card or the plastic thing thing it comes with.

thanks bud, honestly, I got so lazy cleaning that, I just let it go. Its all flaky coralline, and then the snails eat whatever film algae may grow. Cleaning the back was a chore.

@SeaDweller - If memory serves, you're rocking 4 x Orphek 48" fixtures. I'm thinking of getting away from the shadowing that seems to be inherent in my two Hydra 26HDs (over a Reefer 250 with a footprint of 35.5" x 20" x 21"). I have frags that are only receiving light on half of their structures and it's beginning to irritate me. I should have purchased Hydra 52HDs initially given my intended application. Do you think an Atlantik V4 Compact (Gen 2) will provide enough spread and avoid shadowing long-term for mature colonies given my tank's footprint? Or would I need the non-compact model?

The compact dimensions are: 24.21" x 9.37" x 2.11"
The non-compact dimensions are: 13.58" x 9.37" x 2.11"

@Chaswood79 had the right idea with the 52HDs.

Apparently I can't read.

You could have pretended to be using Orphek. I mean, that's what a nice guy would have done.
Or I could be pretending that I'm using Orphek, pretending to be really using Reefbreeders instead, but pretending to pretend that I'm pretending.

You really are an acquired taste. You know, like bitter herbs. I mean that as a complement!

ReefBreeders wasn't on my radar. I'm looking at the Photon 32-V2+ now. How well do you think a 31.5" x 8.5" fixture will cover a 35" x 20" tank?

@SeaDweller - Are you seriously ghosting me right now? I take back all the hurtful things I said about you.

dabnabit, who hacked my account to de-ignore you?

I think its probably enough; if you're going all SPS or mainly dominant, you might want two, just to make sure you cover every inch. OR you can add some lumenbars or Orphek OR Bars to fill in some space. Initially I ran only two units, and thought it was ok, but I had a buddy come over and we both agreed it wasn't enough. I don't have shading running 4 units. Plus, Logan will tell you one is enough. He told me two was enough for me and didn't try to upsell me anything but his Lumenbars. I respect his honesty, and bought two more units. No regrets with having more coverage.
