Should I be upset or complain?

Hey guys I purchased this mushroom from Queen City Corals and just received it. I was expecting a red spattered yellow jawbreaker mushroom from them. But instead received a green eclectus jawbreaker. Although the green eclectus isn't horrible. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I felt kind of deceived. Reason being that the stock photo which was a wysiwyg picture clearly showed and stated in the title, "red spatter yellow jawbreaker mushroom". So the title and the pictures were both false statements. The coral I received is the same as the picture on their site. But their picture was heavily edited to show a yellow jawbreaker. You forgot to attach the photo. But have you tried to contact them? It might of been a mistake on their part that they might be willing to fix.

You didn’t get what you ordered - they should send you the correct coral free of charge

Edit - looking back at the detail it’s the same just a different angle. Didn’t realize the lights could make that much of a difference. Pretty unfortunate tho. Hopefully they can do something for ya since it isn’t really 1/1 with what the picture displayed. :/

Well it is the same coral WYSIWYG, but yes the photo was photographed under different lighting.

I just attached them thanks for letting me know. Yes I reached out and they simply said that I received what was in the picture. But now I responded with my picture as comparison and I'm waiting for a response tomorrow when they receive the email

I think it is the same coral, but yes the color in the photo is way off yours.

Yellow is always a problem. I wouldn't be mad, but would ask them how I could spot this on their website. Maybe they can explains the post processing of the images.

(looking at the fragmount, it's the same coral as you got. So it seems to be the same)

When approaching it differently they could have uploaded this version.

It is likely an issue with your light settings vs. those used by QCC. If I put that green mushroom under my lights and set blues to max it would very likely turn yellow. I have some torches with tips which looks light blue under day light light but turn a deep bright purple when under blues. Similarly, I have a specific torch with arms which are bright green under daylight but when under blues the hook 1/3 to half of the arms will be bright yellow.

I don’t believe your were purposely deceived. Over time you will be able to look at online photos (often taken with Radions set to max blue) and have a sense of what a coral will look like under your light settings.

If you set you lights to max blue does it look more yellow?

True and I notice a whole lot of people see green as yellow. This tends to happen with torches. Some people call them yellow, but I usually see it as green with a low saturation in the tips. If I take a color wheel to it, it's usually more green then yellow. We also want things to be yellow so in a store we want to see yellow and don't notice it is actually a flat green.

In my opinion only a Banana torch is true yellow all the way. All others are either brown or green in various saturations. But don't tell this to people who just bought a "Yellow" Holy Grail.

That's why I wouldn't be mad. Sure this is an extreme example, but that's a problem with coral and foto's.

Shops which really try to fool you don't stay up long.. so I can't imagine bad intentions here.

If you want yellow and have a decent tank.. try Manella.

Looks like they have their lights configured to a different color spectrum than yours.

You can never judge colors from a computer display, every display looks different and when you add in different light settings your yellow could be someone elses orange.

Tune your lights to a more Blurple color and see what that does.

I'm running an AI prime HD I did turn up blues all the way and turned down the whites. But that made the mushrooms green hue illuminate even more. The only time it looks slightly more yellow is when I turn the white up about 20% .

Doesn't Tidal Gardens show both under blue and white lights? Something I believe should be industry standard unless buyer understands spectrum used by store and going to run same.

What is crazy is what they advertised is closer to what @DIYreefer sells. His are a very vibrant orange but might also have alittle yellow under your lighting. The reds and greens in his jawbreakers are awesome too. He just sent me a bunch of them yesterday. And he charges 1/2 that price because he is just a hobbyist trying to fund his addiction.

To me, it looks like the original picture from the seller used a heavy orange filter under very blue lighting. Which I don’t personally have a problem with, I do it too. The fore mentioned combo produces images that are very similar to, if not exactly what I see in my tank under blue lighting.

The (potential) issue that I see here is that it looks like they may have gone a little overboard with the color enhancement sliders when editing the photo.

If there is zero yellow even on full blues then that is indeed troubling and would be upset as well.
