As we all know, Amphipods are usually pretty good for a system and not usually a bother. But here's my problem with them... I have way too many. I never added them to my tank on purpose. They probably came on corals and dipping the corals in Revive must not have got them all. I have added Tigger Pods in the past though, but I'm not sure if I have any left in my tank. I have a Blue-Sided Fairy Wrasse and a Yellow Corris Wrasse. The Fairy Wrasse doesn't "hunt" throughout the day. He's happy just to cruise around the tank. The Corris Wrasse on the other hand does spend the day searching the sand and rocks, pecking at whatever he is seeing.

Here's the story, sorry to make this so long. My Zoas were closed up and remained that way for weeks. Nothing I tried seemed to work so I decided to dip it in Revive. The amount of Amphipods that came off that coral during the dip was shocking. After the dip, the Zoas slowly started coming back to life. I don't know if the Amphipods were irritating it or there was something else the dip cured it from, but I'm a believer in what I see.

After dipping the coral, I really started paying attention and at night I've been able to see the Amphipods crawling everywhere. I've always been able to see them in my sump, especially the refugium, but it's not until recently that I've been able to spot them in my tank in large numbers. There's no doubt that they were there always, but the amount is crazy.

So, I need some pest control. Clearly my two Wrasses are not up to the challenge. Should I get a Scooter Blenny (aka Dragonet)? My worry is trying to feed it once or if the amphipods run out. I cannot buy copepods where I am from. I can get fish shipped to me via a single store in Vancouver willing to put them on a plane, but they will not fly over copepods. I was thinking I could pull a few amphipods out of the tank to start a "breeding" colony of them just in case the scooter blenny runs out of food. But I'm not really sure how to do that, if anyone has any ideas.

My Melanurus wrasse kept my tank pretty clean. Even got rid of my red planaria flat worms.
Maybe one would fit in your tank.
