Well the doors are made. They need to be sanded, stained and polyed. I was going to add some trim to the doors but I kind of like them they way they are, shaker style.

I also mounted the shelves. But I have a jig for it so I can use shelf pins but they needed to be done before putting the frame together because I could not get my drill in there ... DUH so I had to come up with a different way.

I also got the skin/face and sides mounted but need to get pics of it.

Still to do for stand.
So I need to sand, stain and poly the doors.
Hang doors.
Add fans to the skin.
Hang the skin.
Do molding, needs to be cut, sanded, stained and polyed.
Attach top.
Add hardware.

Bottom of the tabletop got first coat of Kilz.
Also if you look in the picture you can see I have put on part of the skin. I got the front and both sides on and I am just waiting for the doors.

Speaking of doors here they are stained and on coat of poly. Two more coats to go and on to the back for some poly for protection.

These are the custom knobs we picked out. Our rooms is all nautical so they fit well. We even have a old cast iron compass in the room.

For the stand I still need too finish some molding, attach light tree, attach top cut holes for plumbing, put rear skin on and attach fans, electrical, electrical panel and vent grills.
I also need to attach the led lights.

Then move on to the tank.

Ok well I drilled the tank last night for the overflow:

They ended up perfect and I drilled from the inside of the tank and you are seeing the side that normally splinters.
Best holes I have ever done.
Synergy ships a template to help line up the holes.

How to drill glass in a aquarium.

For those thinking of drilling here are some tips.

Make a template out of thin wood or something and clamp or duct tape it to the glass. The hole saw will wander otherwise.

Tape the back side of the hole, I use duct tape and this will help with splintering.

Set your clutch on low.. If it jams/binds it will crack the tank if it is set too tight.

Lots of water.. I have my girlfriend spray water with a spray bottle to keep it cool. If she is not around I use plumbers putty and kneed it into a circle and make small pool and fill it with water.

Don't use force just use the weight of the dill because it grinds the glass. GO SLOW.

Use even less force when it starts to break through (usually you will see water on other side or see it drain). If you put too much pressure you will splinter the glass.

I try to drill from the inside of the aquarium out if I can so that is the smoother side since it splinters when coming out the other side. Inside it where the gasket goes.

This is the background I am using. It is like window tinting and is applied with soapy water and the water is squeegeed out.
I prefer this to painting because it can be removed or changed.. Not a cheap product but worth it. I have used it before and it wont peel if applied right.

Well I decided to try the ATB 840 v2.0 Protein Skimmer on the new tank. I have loved my RLSS skimmer and have switched it out several times only to bring it back.. It has been a solid performer but with a slightly larger tank and the anthias massive feedings I thought I might be able to do slightly better. Also a skimmer can only do so much my load may really require me to finally start using gfo or pellets. I dont care to use them because they are just something more to have to take care of it, I would prefer to just use a powerful skimmer. Anyway the body is pretty close in size but with external pump vs. space saver I should pick up some contact time. It also pulls more air. Actually this skimmer might be more than I need.

Thank you...
I don't have it yet, I just ordered it today from http://www.atb-usa.com/product-p/atb840.htm
They are a sponsor here now....
The pic is a stock pick from the forums. The picture on ATB site is wrong the skimmer now comes with a dc pump and not a sicce pump....
