Looking for help... I got a purple tang a few weeks ago. I got him really cheap from a lfs cause he had bad ich. I've been treating him with copper and selcon and feeding him mysis shrimp mixed with garlic extreme. He is in a q/t. I have fwd him once and been trying hyposalinity but be isn't getting better. Any other suggestions to help him?

Are you treating with both copper & hyposalinity at the same time?

No tried Fwd with hypo for a week feeding him a ton with frozen mysis soaked in garlic. Wasn't showing results after 2 weeks so raised it back up and started copper been doing that for a week now. Showing some promise now.

Garlic is more of a feeding stimulant....not a disease treatment. If it is ich, he needs a 14 day treatment with copper to see a change. Then another 14 days to be sure it is gone (28 days total). I've never seen hypo actually work to rid the fish...many claim it does, but never seen proof as it usually returns on the same fish....

Agreed. You'll need continuous copper treatment at therapeutic levels for 30 days to be sure ick has been eradicated. Hypo can and does work, though you don't see it as often because it doesn't work on all strains of ick and because it's difficult to pull off correctly.
