I don't know that it can kill corals when dosed as directed. Sounds like an urban myth to me. Where did you hear that?

That said, I cannot give better advice for higher or lower doses without some sort of measurement of them by, say ICP-MS.

Thats true, that was the wrong thing to say, what happened was i overdosed on traces i was doing the maximum dose few months ago by mistake of both A and K, and the corals for example my hammer colonies were all ticked off. Now i am 3ml by 3ml half recommended dose on both.

Good morning.

Woke up this morning to my 1 year old torch one of the heads bailed out. So i fragged it. I am not sure why would that happen. Tested my water alk is 9.7 i monitor it weekly or biweekly sometimes its always been 9.5-9.7. I dose all for reef on a redsea doser. My tank is a 150G. Everything thriving in it no issues.

The only changes that iv been doing is dosing tropic marin A and K, experimenting with it to see if i get any benefits from since last icp test showed me some 0 elements. Im doing 3ml half the recommended amount on both. Everyday.

I dose phyto everyday as well, 150ml in the morning. The last changes i also did was i switched from reef crest to lagoon flow, changed the flow a bit, but nothing major at all. Im also dosing wolf glass silicate for almost 2 months now to get rid of the large amphidium dinos, which its working pretty good. But the only recent change has been the traces should i stop that?

Phosphate: showing on hanna 0.51 but i believe thats because the high concentrated silicate in the water interfering with the test.

Not sure, probably super high, im dosing 2mp water glass by wolf as instructed by macks dinos on facebook. Ima stop dosing traces + silicate all together.to be honest

Iv been dosing silicate for around 2 months, and during that time noticed a bloom on the sand, that cleared after a while, now i only have a very thin layer, of brown algae on the sand. Assuming thats diatoms, i gotta check under the microscope again. The trace iv been dosing for 4-5 days at best now, i havent experienced with it that long, and i only was dosing half the recommended dose 3ml by 3ml. It seems like i gotta stop dosing silicate, and traces all together

Why do you need to stop the trace elements? Do you think the torch bailout was because of the trace elements?

Remember that the torch wasn’t doing well to begin with; It might not have been from adding trace elements.

The torch was doing good, and split to multiple heads, it was one of the heads that bailed out. Why r you saying it wasnt doing good to begin with?

However i noticed my corals some are getting ticked off. Like for example one of torch corals i had over a year 2 heads sinked inside the body. My other torch also shrinked in, my duncan colonies 2 seperate colonies closed up.

The head fixed itself, and thats not the same head that bailed out it was a healthy head.
