Hi everyone new here to R2R, I used to post at other sites over the years but found R2R and I have been lurking and reading for a while. A little background on myself, I have had some type of saltwater tanks on & off since 1988. My last set-up which was taken down 4 years ago when I moved to my new house was a in wall 150G cube (full blown reef) which was my best set-up to date. I moved all the inhabitants with me and my corals, clams & fish were in "temporary" rubbermaid troughs as I was getting settled. After a year of being in a temporary setup I went on vacation for a week & came back to a disaster. GFI tripped and I came home to a smelly house and lost fish & SPS, LPS corals some I had been raising almost a decade all from frags. I about threw the towel in, but I was to addicted to this hobby to quit.
So I have been working on my new fish room for a couple years on & off, I know it's a very slow build! Currently I am just running my future frag tank which is housing some fish & various corals it is a Deep Blue shallow 80 gallon with and old I-tech skimmer, Turbo Aquatics L2 scrubber and a homemade 40 gallon breeder sump lit by a Ocean Revive LED. This tank will be it's own system & not tied to the main reef tank. It will use this to grow out frags and bring in new fish for a month or two before being added to the main tank.
So the main tank I bought brand new in 2015 and has been taking up space on the floor of my basement since then, it is a Marineland 300DD. I know this particular aquarium has a tendency to blow out on the bottom glass (due to bad silicone work) which makes me very nervous but since I have had this so long I am going to roll the dice. Equipment on this tank is what I have purchased over the years or came off my last set-up. The sump is a custom acrylic & return pump will most likely be a Octo Varios 8. The skimmer is a Aquamaxx ConeS Q-3, and this will also have a ATS turbo aquatics L4 scrubber to help with water quality. I just picked up a used Calcium Reactor MRC CR-2 with a Carbon Doser CO2 regulator and Masterflex pump. Pretty excited about this purchase, first reactor I have ever had I previously dosed a combo of Kalkwasser/Vinegar along with BRS Alk/Calc/Mag with dosing pumps. That's it for now, construction pics will be next!
